only likable moment for Floyd since 07
was loving him when he did what he did to Ortiz
that bitch is "too young to have to get hit"
he was hugging and kissing his opponent during the damn fight
even if you hate Floyd, you still gotta love him for the Ortiz KO
that was great, love to watch it over and over
Ortiz had it coming, cheered Floyd for the 1st time in yrs for that

Is it just me who always has the feeling that when Mayweather fights, the ref seems to be pro Floyd. In the Gatti-Floyd fight it was so blatant to see. Actually the ref should have DQ'ed Floyd or deduct points, but to do what he did was basically .........
I always have the feeling the referees in Floyd fights are always pro Floyd. And I have seen that in quite some fights, so I have my reasons to believe that.
      Wait what?

The entire fight was a mess. Floyd was throwing elbows, Victor lost his composure and headbutted him out of frustration. His apology and demeanor immediately after hitting Floyd made it clear that he wasn't trying to make it a dirty fight. He just couldn't hold it together because he felt like he was being unfairly hit with elbows, and of course Joe Cortez being the referee that he is did nothing about it. His team mentioned Floyd's elbows repeatedly to Cortez before the fight.

Floyd threw elbows, Cortez did nothing about it, and Ortiz headbutted. Then Cortez completely dropped the ball by bringing the two fighters together and then physically motioned for fighters to come together but didn't follow up the gesture by lowering his arm in the middle. He then looked away like a bad actor whose role was to be completely surprised that Ortiz was hit with a punch afterwards.

A lot of fights like this one, the Pac Margarito fight where Pacquiao is whispering into Margarito's ear - all of these types of fights make it seem like something untoward is going on behind the scenes, and not in a good way. Just doesn't add up.

The only thing I can compare it to in other sports is in football(soccer) if the ref stops play and someone scores on a "fair play" situation.

          Legal? Yes. Cheap? Very.

Mayweather should have just kicked his a$$ and taken the high road instead of retaliate with the same cheapness as Ortiz.

I'm obviously still bitter that the fight ended the way it did and I'm a fan of both ha.

Well, if he'd hit Ortiz when Ortiz had clearly taken a knee and was knocked out, then a DQ would have been fine. However, Ortiz fouled Mayweather, not the other way around. Ortiz didnt take a knee and they were meant to be fighting again, not hugging. But, Cortez is a moron, and was unclear and senile as usual, and the two guys were meant to be fighting so its not even in the same ball park. At all.

Jones illegally hit Griffin when Griffin had gone down already.

Mayweather hit Ortiz during normal action, after an Ortiz foul but the Tree was still in the process of growing a logical thought, which shouldn't have included more hugging. He's a boxer, not a tree hugging hippie.

Can you point out the round and time in which Floyd was "throwing" elbows?

It's Ortiz's trainer's fault in my opinion. He showed to much concern about Floyd's dirty tactics. Garcia whined and talked incessantly about it days leading to the fight. Ortiz's brain was soaked full of it and instead of showing caution he threw the first dirt.

I'm going to hazard a guess that the 'throwing elbows' is just Floyds usual defense when he pushes his forearm into the other guys chest. Things somehow get overblown when it comes to Floyd. Holding his forearm high while inside for defense becomes 'launching off the turnbuckle trying to split dudes faces open with back spinning, flying elbows'.

"Ortiz just launched a measly headbutt bro! Floyd spent the whole fight swinging his elbows into Ortiz' face trying to KHTFO with it. Beeatchazzpussay"

It was one of those events that leaves one with an upset stomach after watching it.

It was a terrible reaction on both sides.

I think Ortiz should've been disqualified on the spot.

Ortiz is a moron and what he did was ridiculous, both the head butt and the prolonged, hug-based apology.

But it was a truly terrible way for a big fight to end, and it was cheap on Floyd's part. Can you see Martinez, Marquez, Ward, Pacquiao doing that? They never have, and Floyd's got some form in this respect.

No sympathy for Ortiz, but I don't give Floyd any praise for doing what he did either. A night best forgotten.
