Mr Miyagi said something about this. "You do Karate do yes, you do karate do no, you do karate guess so *Squish* just like g*****

If Ortiz wanted to make it a dirty fight he should have made it a damn dirty fight. Not trying to kiss and suck up to Mayweather when his dirty tactics got busted.

Exactly. The ref said "Break", Gatti stopped punching and Floyd knocked him down. And after that the ref acted like he never said "Break".
Is it just me who always has the feeling that when Mayweather fights, the ref seems to be pro Floyd. In the Gatti-Floyd fight it was so blatant to see. Actually the ref should have DQ'ed Floyd or deduct points, but to do what he did was basically .........
I always have the feeling the referees in Floyd fights are always pro Floyd. And I have seen that in quite some fights, so I have my reasons to believe that.

Yes the punches Mayweather KOed Ortiz with were legal and justified. It was 100% Ortiz's fault. He repeated headbutted Mayweather and then slobbered all over Mayweather apologizing. Cortez had made it clear that the fight was on. What was Mayweather supposed to do? Ortiz could have backed away from Mayweather with his hands up but he left his hands down like a dummy. When Floyd hit him with the left hook Ortiz looked away at Cortez instead of trying to block the straight right that followed the left hook. I believe Ortiz could have made it up in time but he chose to stay down. He just wanted the fight to be over. I have no proof of that so that is just a guess on my part.

                  It was entirely Ortiz's fault.

He was hitting shoulders and fresh air all fight and he got frustrated, the headbutt was an absolute disgrace. He deserved to be paid back.

That sh-t ain't boxing, don't give me that nonsense that its part of the dark arts of the sport. Ortiz was an idiot but Mayweather was a scumbag. People pay extra for a spectacle, not to see someone cheap shot their way out of there. No wonder the sport is basically a fringe sport, when our biggest representative is Mayweather.

Headbutts are fine though I guess? Mayweathers a pathetic scumbag for fighting when they were meant to be fighting, but Ortiz is just an idiot for leaping in skull first with a headbutt well worthy of a DQ, which is the only reason any of it happened. Yeah, sure mate. It's all Mayweathers fault and he's the pathetic one in this situation.

It was entirely the refs fault. Mayweather did exactly what he was supposed to do. Gatti didnt. FM hit him with a two punch combo as the ref was saying stop punching, Floyd stopped punching, then when they separated, Gatti just stood there, the ref was six feet away not doing or saying anything, so FM very rightfully started to fight again. That's what they are meant to do. It's why they are there. The ref wasn't getting in between them to stop the action. It was a short, brief command to not punch while Gatti had his head down, they did, then when they stood back up it was back on. The ref didn't say break, he didn't step between them and he was six feet away. When they had stopped punching and separated, that's when you start fighting again unless the ref stays break, or is actually there between you to stop it. It was simply a bad call on the refs part.

Floyd could have been honourable and waited until Gatti was happy and ready to go, but he chose to fight because that's why he's there. Blaming Floyd for the refs mistake is a bit sad. He's getting on with the fight when they were meant to be getting on with it. If the ref doesn't step in to break you, you keep fighting. If one of you decides to stand still not doing anything and stare at the ref, its not only idiotic, but perfectly logical for the other guy to hit him while he's standing there.
