I don't understand and will never understand why a professional boxer needs a "strength and conditioning" coach. I guess he coaches strength and conditioning.
But then again, what does the actual trainer do? What is his role?
You could walk by any local gym and find a personal trainer that knows just as much a meme. So why do fighters hire him? PEDS?
I remember when I first started training in Jr. High. We hit the weights, did situps & pushups, climbed ropes, ran on the track and ran up stairs. I did not know it at the time, but I was my own strength and conditioning coach. I just did not have access to PEDS.Comment

This guy didn't need a strength coach he just used good ole fashioned determination!
A trainer is someone who knows more than you. He's there to push you and make sure you do your exercises with good form. And keep track. And stress you mentally. I work three times as hard when I got my coach holding me accountable, telling me to run faster, get my knees up, get all the way down on rapid squats, get all the way up doing push-ups, etc. You don't get to work on your schedule, you do it on the trainer's. And that's what it's like in the ring. You don't get to pick when you want to fight and when you don't. It's way too easy to workout within your own comfort zone when someone isn't there to tell you to pick it up.
I have no idea if Memo has PEDs or not, but arguing about whether having a trainer is useful or not is ******.Comment
