Come on man, it wasn't an illegal gun. An illegal gun is one that you buy off of a thug on the streets. He had a permit, a license to carry....they do a state police background check before you can even buy one, then another one when you apply for a carry license.

I'm telling you, there are only like 5 states with laws like the ones that NY has regarding guns. He followed the protocol that the cops teach you in the conceal/carry class or crying out loud. This is just a media stunt to get press time for the DA. Trust me, if it were serious, they would not have released him and scheduled his arraignment after his fight. He isn't getting any time for a simple misunderstanding.

The Ghost has money, they will fine him 25K or so and slap him on the wrist.....he was trying to obey the law not break it and he has never been arrested before that I am aware of. They will warn him to read up on the laws in the states that he is visiting next time and give him suspended time.

The DA just wants to get his face in the paper....."In the best interest of all parties involved, we have decided to show leniency to Mr. Guerrero. Make no mistake and let this be a lesson to future offenders that the NY City DA's office will not let any matter involving illegal gun activity go without punishment. Good post but I'm born and bred in Queens, NY and I am pretty sure that the high capacity magazine is going to carry a minimum sentence (I may be wrong). And mark my words, if Bloomberg starts sticking his nose into this case he'll outrank the DA and Guerrero does time for the magazine. On another point if a DA wants to run for office he WON'T be lenient. Quite the contrary, in NYC he'll be heavy handed. Just my 2 cents.

Guerrero is truly a fricking moron. The DA is going to go for the kill. This case is too public. Crossing state lines with a gun is ******. Trying to fly with a gun is beyond ******ed. They're going to make the point .

I myself made the ultimate sacrifice. I was the proud owner of a .357 Ruger, .40 Sigma Series Smith & Wesson, and a 12 gauge pistol grip Mossberg - and I dumped them all the day I moved from lenient gun friendly Arizona to stringent anti-gun crazy California. It just simply was not worth the trouble trying to do anything alternative. Not worth it.

Yes it was, no matter how many times you say it, it is still not true. NYC does not honor cali gun licenses. Your definition if an illegal gun is not the legal NY definition. An illegal gun here is a gun without a NY license to possess that gun. He was arrested on illegal gun possession charges as well as mag charge

No, protocol only applies to guns that you have a license for. When you are given a license in any state, you are told it only applies in that state and you have to respect laws which apply where you are. Media stunt? You have no idea how serious guns are taken here, there is no leniency, it doesnt matter if it was a misunderstanding. If they thought thats all it was, they would arrest him and charge him with such serious offenses for which there is no legal defense for. Not only that but 3 of the 4 felony charges he faces are for 3 illegal large mags that are illegal in both NY and Cali
