He has a permit for it, it was unloaded, and he declared it to the airport authorities.

All of that should be taken into account when he goes to court. It's obvious that he wasn't trying to commit a crime.

I travel with guns often it is your responsibilty to check gun laws wherever you are traveling to. But if you are traveling to antigun loonie states like New York, Chicago, Washington and New Jersey it's a given that you can't take your gun. He followed procedure and declared the gun, the only thing Guerrero is just guilty of is just being dumb. A good lawyer should be able to get him out of this.
