  • He was following the protocol that a law-abiding citizen with a concealed permit would follow except that the state doesn't allow concealed weapons permits period.....unlike 95% of the rest of the country.

He wasn't doing anything shady, he just didn't read the laws regarding NY before he went there. Kind of like you are always supposed to declare that you have a gun to the police while driving as well. He'll end up getting suspended time and probation.

    • Your carrying an unloaded gun period, seriously what good does that even do? Should of been carrying some brass knuckles instead and what the hell are you doing carrying it into a airport.

A lot of us don't live in NY or really care about what goes on in NY. It really shouldn't come as a shock. Some of us aren't even from America.
if u are traveling with a gun, u should know the laws of the state u are traveling to. ignorance does not get u a pass when it comes to guns. just the way its seen under the law. especialy at an airport.

Is that really the starting salary for the NYPD? i thought it was way less
It's all over the place. On the FAQ of nyc.gov/NYPD, under what are the benefits it says "$34,970 Starting salary (including holiday pay, uniform pay and night differential)".

              http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/faq/faq_police.shtml

Then on the actual NYPD website it says starting pay is $44,744 including top base pay, holiday pay, uniform allowance, etc.

              • Only thing Guerrero can hope for is to get less than the mandatory minimum of 3 1/2 years.

I wonder if the Port Authority officer sounded like the Cleveland bus driver "YOU GOING TO JAIL NOW!!!!!"

It's really not. The NYPD and FDNY are grossly underpaid. I'm not planning to be a cop, that would be last resort. I'm majoring in accounting, but don't want to be an accountant either. I'd love to join the Air Force or Navy.

TBF it does go up to $70k+ after 5 years.

No he won't. You obviously don't pay attention to celebrity gun incidents in NY. He's going to cop a plea and do time, NY has minimum mandatory sentencing guidelines. The judge can't "not" give him time. He can give him the minimum which is like a year. Higher profile athletes with more money than Bobby have learned this the hard way.

Who cares if it was registered in Cali, it wasnt in NY, which is where he was arrested. When you travel out of state or country, you are to obey that area's laws, that shouldnt come as a shock. Its not an American thing either
