Unless he has some damn good lawyers or there's a problem with the case...

Plaxico's lawyers did everything to keep him outta jail but he still did about 2 years...in his case the mayor finding out about it didn't help...

        • Guerrero will not be doing any time for this..

"He informed the ticket agent that he had an unloaded gun on him he wished to turn in for travel and was licensed to carry it in california. The boxer did not have any ammunition at the time on his person or luggage".

There is no ill intent and it's not like he was busted, he announced it himself with the intent of turning the gun over so it could be put in the lockbox guns go in for non-air marshalls or military personnel. He followed the declaration of intent to surrender his weapon at an airport...seems like the cops who handled this jumped the gun which is why hours later no charges have been pressed. He's just being held.

          • I work for the Federal government (FAA) and I had a co-worker do the exact same thing. Her scenario was ATL to Jamaica and she "forgot" that she had a handgun in her luggage. Not only did she not lose her job but she didn't serve time in jail and was not restricted INCONUS. As far as I know she paid fines, was on a no fly list, and got a minor reprimand. The major differences: 1) She is female. 2) It was in ATL. 3) She is in a Union. By the way, it's a Federal crime not State since it's in an airport.

I'm not going to say it is a non story Plaxico Burress had a permit for a gun just not a NY permit and he ended up in prison. not saying this situation is the same but anything can happen. if it was anywhere but NY i would say it is a non issue.

Its not the ill intent that got him arrested, simply possessing a gun is what he was arrested for. It doesnt matter if he "followed the declaration of intent to surrender" because he is not legally allowed to possess that weapon in NY

Why even have a gun in NY without a license is the dumb part. He can never load a gun in a state for which he doesnt have a license for so it cant be for protection
