I had the misfortune to have ringside tickets for Audley Harrison's pro debut against Mike 'The Jinx' Middleton over a decade ago at Wembley Arena.

My 'ticket buddy' worked for a top corporate hospitality company and knowing that I was a die-hard fan I got the invite to occupy the spare seat.

To describe Middleton as fat and in crap shape is to do a gross injustice to those people who are just simply fat and in crap shape.

By the time Middleton eventually managed to plod to the ring and squeeze his three acres of wobbling, arse-flesh through the ropes he was sweating like Butterbean eating a vast cheese and pork lunch in the Sahara.

The guy was a complete and utter disgrace and even my non-boxing friend turned round to me and said that Middleton was not fit to fight.

I hated the fact that anyone could hire a guy like Middleton - the apparent epitome of a non-athlete - and then have the temerity to charge people good money to see him get whacked. The rot started there for Audley.

Then I fell in love with boxing all-over again when Robin Reid stutted into the ring; spitting fire, in-shape and hungry to get back to the top again.

part of the fault lies with the champions who select these fatboy subjourneymen to defend the world title against.

Tony Thompson reckons the extra fat helped him knock David Price out (srs)

I don't like to see it either. It's frustrating. The least these guys can do is get in the best shape possible.
