If I remember correctly he went all the way up to his regular fight night weight as if he was fighting at 175. I think it was like 180ish...

Dawson ****ed up man. He just won the lineal championship and possibly destroyed the rest of his career a few months later.

Great article. We need more of them instead of empty articles about God and in the same sentence how many people you stabbed or shot or wanting fight in the parking lot.

          Great read.

Someone told me Dawson lost this fight because when they tried to get fight footage of Ward they couldn't find any on Betamax.

Good article on more than just the Chad Dawson breakup. Scully is a great dude and a good trainer. Wish him the best.

Hasn't this Dawson/Scully thing been beaten to death months ago? It's over. Everyone involved was at fault. They took a shot and a payday and Dawson lost. He moved on and now he's got a big fight with Adonis. Dawson will get stopped brutally by Adonis and he'll continue to fight on. Dawson was once a marvelous fighter early on under Floyd Sr. when he dazzled Adamek. Unfortunately, those days appear to be gone. But he still has a few decent paydays to score.

You act like him being 184 on August 13 is a problem. It isn't.

That's Chad's natural weight and he should be fighting at 175, not 168... ever

Snoopy? With all due respect, I assure you him being 184 at that date was a HUGE problem. Im not sure if you have ever fought and trained for a fight and had to deal with weight issues like that but rest assured, if you go to camp on July 7 and weigh 182 and five weeks later you have GAINED TWO pounds for a fight that would need to be 168 for then , YES, that is a major, major problem. And when you get to the night before the weigh in (after NINE WEEKS of training, sparring , running and dieting in PLUS 100 degree weather) and you are STILL SEVEN POUNDS over the weight u need to be the following day then, YES, that is a problem of astronomical proportions. Yes it definitely is.

Do you reckon it would have helped Chad focus if he'd watched Any Which Way But Loose the night before, John?
