As much as HBO's quality has gone down, I don't think the'll stoop that low.

Whoever it is, is going to not just be facing Chavez but the WBC and Sulaiman. Prepare for dodgy post-fight controversy, a small ring, and skipped drug tests.

Chavez pulls in the best ratings for HBO of any just about any fighter. He did 1.9 mil against rubio. As a comparison cotto-foreman did 1.6 These are the biggest ratings in a while. They'll do whatever he wants if they can also get a sergio rematch. If he doesnt fight Macklin, im sure he will be on the undercard. Im not sure why he hasnt fought in a while

That's what I'm seeing. Macklin looked too damn good in his last fight, and Vera has too many upsets under his belt.

Chavez didn't ride the easy train his entire career just to pick the tougher fight now. He will fight soft touches until he fights for the title again.

Vera is already a low enough stoop and winnable enough to satisfy Top Rank. Do you really think if HBO says no to Lorezeno, Chavez will protest and go over and Showtime because they're being forced to fight Vera? It's freaken Vera. Chavez obviously has a lot of leverage, but not THAT much that they're able to avoid someone like Vera.

Beside, Vera is a decent ticket seller in Texas. He makes good business sense for Top Rank.

If you want to get taken serious, go with Mack The Knife. Can't go wrong with that fight. If he loses, he lost to a good fighter. Macklin did beat Strum.

Vera is the second best option there. that's the guy who is always underdog in every fight but seems to pull out a win from his ass. He surprised me when he beat Andy Lee, and then Sergio Mora twice, but when he beat Dzinzuruk I was no longer surprised. He lost some against notable names, but he's half and half. He can beat top guys and lose to top guys, he's an above average fighter, not just some club fighter. I would say he's dangerous and would give JCC Jr props for beating him, but would give him even more props if he chooses Macklin and beats him.

It's kind of hard for me to believe it's not him.
Dude's coming off a lay off and has a potential (well pretty much going to happen) PPV rematch against Sergio.
