He was basically saying to Floyd "I'm going to bring up this point and you can talk about how you've beat every southpaw you've fought etc etc" but instead he took it offensively
He say's some really ****** stuff at times.Comment

one still has to give Ward a meaure of credit for a victory over a quality fighter, plus the manner of that victory. it was a good win that could have been highly creditable at 175.
the guy you're talking to will discredit, say, the Mayweather-Mosley fight along these lines, 'Mosley was old and shot'. nevermind that he was seen to be rejuvenated under Richardson, was coming off one of his best career wins/performances and was one of two guys whom everyone said Mayweather should fight at the time.Last edited by S. It would have been an exceptional win at 175. But, I don't see why Ward should get credit for the win at 168 when it's clear as day that Dawson was dead at the weight. I'm a fan of Ward, but it is what it is.one still has to give Ward a meaure of credit for the manner of his victory over a quality fighter. it was a good win that could have been highly creditable at 175.
the guy you're talking to will discredit, say, the Mayweather-Mosley fight along similar lines. Mosley was old and shot. nevermind that he was seen to be rejuvenated under Richardson, was coming off one of his best career wins/performances and was one of two guys whom everyone said Mayweather should fight at the time.
I don't see how it compares to Mosley. They're wasn't huge outcry of Dawson-Ward like their was Mayweather-Mosley. Mosley was #1 at WW, #3 P4P and coming off one of the better wins of his career.
I know what you're saying, but It's just not the same.
I wasn't even talking about Mayweather though

Mosley was old and fairly shot though, wasnt he? He was in an even ****tier state when Manny got hold of him. Saying Dawson was severely weight drained is an opinion, not a fact. Dawson had said repeatedly for a long time before and in the run up to the fight that 168 was no problem. I thought it was a good win over a good opponent, simple as that. To say it wasnt legit is just wrong.one still has to give Ward a meaure of credit for a victory over a quality fighter, plus the manner of that victory. it was a good win that could have been highly creditable at 175.

Su-um wubbed da welter weight da wong way.

But seriously though, Floyd didn't "shred" ****. If anything, he just made himself sound even more ****** by trying to insinuate that Andre "S.O.G" Ward is trying to patent being the ONLY Son of God.
Maybe Floyd thought it said "O.S.O.G".

He didn't look shot in the fight before that and when the entire world was asking for the fight.Mosley was old and fairly shot though, wasnt he? And what has Dawson and his trainer said after the fight? Does that count too, or?
Dawson hadn't been at 168 in what? 5 years? He walks around at 190 Lbs. He was severely drained it's as clear as day. I'm a fan of Ward's, I wanted Dawson to make the weight healthily but it's abundantly clear he didn't.
So let me get this straight? You consider that a good win?
Martinez' run has been amazing. Ward's win over Dawson is a good win

you guys were having a discussion about the legitimacy of Mayweather's and Ward's recent work. or at least, you made a statement about Ward lacking a quality win since 2011 and junior gong inevitably recriminated that Mayweather's entire run from 2009-2012 was worthless (in not so many words). It would have been an exceptional win at 175. But, I don't see why Ward should get credit for the win at 168 when it's clear as day that Dawson was dead at the weight. I'm a fan of Ward, but it is what it is.

i wasn't saying that i found the cases of Ward-Dawson and Mayweather-Mosley to be similar, but rather that the guy you're talking to would be similarly dismissive with regards to any of Mayweather's recent wins.
does Ward deserve full credit for defeating Dawson? definitely not. but Dawson was a new stylistic challenge for him and Ward did what he had to on the night (and did it very well).Last edited by S. Saddler 1310; 03-13-2013, 07:33 PM.Comment
