Ward has dominated the best in his weight class and above IN THEIR PRIME. That's why some folks have him #1 P4P. Of course Floyd is going to hate on that. Ward is also a helluva role model who speaks intelligently and walks like he talks.

Ward is doing some things right, definitely. But Floyd raises some valid points about his popularity. Sure, he may be #1 P4P, but he's lacks the popularity of Pacquiao, Mayweather, Marquez, etc. The other huge point he made is that the time clock is ticking for Ward. He's not Canelo or Broners age.

Ward is that dude though, make no mistake about that.

He doesn't have the bad guy angle that Floyd works nor large national/ethnic fanbases like Pacquiao or Marquez or even a De La Hoya who is probably the most apt comparison for how to play the good guy in boxing and still win(And even he initially started with a large ethnic fanbase) so how could Ward have gotten those large paydays without compromising who he was?

I just read the whole interview on fight hype and it seems that they have cut out a lot here on boxing scene. It doesn't seem nearly as disrespectful as they made it out to be. If anything the things he said about Saul are way worse. He really isn't lying about what he said he is just being blunt. Ward isn't a major draw even though he is very talented. His best bet at this point is to try and fight Hopkins and that would make him a major draw if he wins. either way he does need to fight out of Oakland to get more fans.

I bet this is coming from an ethnic standpoint on being bitter about Ward rooting for Guerrero.

I remember Floyd doing an interview with FH a while back talking about how he roots for and will always root for Black Americans and how we should support each other like Filipinos get behind Manny Pacquiao. He praised Andre Ward and Timothy Bradley and a couple of other Black fighters in the interview too.

Even though Guerrero and Ward are friends, from the same area, share the same faith, etc he probably still took offense to Ward not rooting for him out of that aspect.
