Floyd is more popular though, so in p4p lists made by multiple voters it's pretty obvious he'd be on top. Ward is #1 on many credible lists though, and on many boxing fan's lists as well. What's GP?

popularity has nothing to do with it. writers vote on who they think is the best. using multiple voters controls for individual biasies. ward deserves some votes as #1 and gets them. But individual p4p rankings are much less valid.

GP is slang for just because. as in floyd expects other black fighters to support him just because he's black, which is silly.

If that is the case isn't that a bit of a redundant nickname? It's a bit like having the nickname "Person" or "Human".

I think you're wrong in this case. The nickname is referring to A - his deep rooted belief in religion & B - he's more talented than most so obviously one of the many deities in 'existence' has 'blessed' him with this special talent. Hence "Son of God".

Either that or he was a Carpenter in the Middle East before turning his hand to boxing.

i think floyd was being more sarcastic with that. I mean when you claim to not know someone whose come to your gym and you've taken pictures with, then talk about where he fights, not fighting in Vegas, etc it seems pretty clear he knows who he is.
