Hopkins doesnt want to get his career ended by getting KO'd by a whiteboy. Can we get Golovkin/Ward instead?

what's too small, really?
too small to win?
perhaps. i'd favor hopkins, but i don't think the size would tell the entire story. hopkins skills, and his age are the big factors in the fight. eventually he's going to press on the pedal and there's not going to be anything left in his tank. it happens to all great fighters.
he's got the power to hurt hopkins and the chin to take his punches as long as they don't pile up. that's where most guys begin to fall short when they move up in weight.
i think it's hopkins skills that win him this fight, not his size. i'd give golovkin a decent shot. he's sparred with big guys before. if he had huge issues with the size they'd know it would be an issue. i don't think they're worried about the size, as hopkins doesn't fight like a big man. he'd use the ring and use his length, and that would be what gave golovkin the issues. hopkins wouldn't be beating golovkin up, using and insurmountable advantage in reach or height, or eating the golovkin punches for breakfast, which are the standard issues with guys that move up in weight.
you guys seem to forget that bernard hopkins put together a hall of fame career at 160 lbs. he's big, but he's not some massive natural LHW. he moved up for big fights, and also because his nearly 50 year old body has a much slower metabolism than it did when he was at 160 10-20 years ago.Last edited by New England; 03-12-2013, 02:44 PM.Comment

What in the ****? People actually think this guy is going to jump 21 pounds and stop Hopkins?
Hopkins would embarrass GGG. 118-110.
Are you serious?Comment

A guy who has fought legit 175 pounders? GGG gets schooled.Comment

guys have been moving up in weight for a long time. as long as they have been boxing. there was never a 168 lb weight class until quite recently.
it was 160 lbs to 175 lbs. it's a jump, but it's not an insurmountable one. hopkins himself did it against antonio tarver. i don't think golovkin has nearly the skills to beat hopkins, but the size advantage hopkins has wouldn't be insurmountable.
personally i'd like to see golovkin weigh in at 165 -169 lbs. he doesn't need a ton of battle weight against a style like hopkins, who won't impose his size the way most big men will.Comment

Can't see Golovkin winning even one round against B-Hop. Every top 5 guy at 175 beats him, most 168 pounders beat him. If the money is right, Hopkins should take, easy win and another undefeated fighter under his belt.
Let's say the fight was not at 175, and instead it was MW Hopkins, Golovkin still gets outclassed and outboxed easily. It's not even about the weight class like some people have mentioned, Hopkins would ruin Golovkin with his style.Comment

I seemed to forget that part when i was typing my first post but that jump in weight is def gonna hold back GGG not as close a fight as i originally stated still would like to see it thoughComment

On top of all that Hopkins would still be bigger, stronger and he might be the worst style clash GGG could pick.
Bad bad fight all around.Last edited by B.U.R.N.E.R; 03-12-2013, 02:58 PM.Comment
