If anything that fight speaks more highly of B-Hop....if you accept the judges' scores at face value then Calzaghe barely got squeaked by against an old Hopkins.

And if you believe that BBC Sports and the AP are right then an old Hopkins was actually able to take Joe Calzaghe's 0.

Roy Jones Jr: "Well, if you tell people that 'ain't no White boy going to beat me' and there's a White judge(s), and it's that close - of course you lost. This is what hurts most of all. It makes that seminal work "Battle of the Superpowers" seem like it wasn't real.

        It wasn't controversial at all.

At the time even the yanks didn't dispute it , they used the "Hopkins is shot " excuse instead

But since that's been disprove they are now calling it a robbery

All because he lost to a white boy

Horrible fight, where I'm not sure anyone can clearly say either many did enough to win that fight if were judging it by who was winning rounds because both did enough to lose almost every round with poor accuracy from both.

Hopkins landed the best punch in the fight in my opinion when he dropped Calzaghe in the first round. Tho was that a body shot or a low blow Calzaghe landed later in the fight where Hopkins looked like he was either Hurt or pretending to be hurt?

Calzaghe was landing grazing barely hitting Hopkins clean at times but probably enough to warrant a Decision win, while Hopkins wasn't landing much of nothing with the exception of the 1rst round knock down. You decide who won, because the fans lost.

Just watched the whole fight again. I had hopkin's winning 4 rounds, throw in the knockdown and you get a score of 115-112. Calzaghe landed 232 punches that night, to this day that's the most anybody ever landed on B-hop, including Roy Jones jr. Hopkins landed a measly 127 punches. There was 1 clear winner that night, and that clear winner was the "white boy"

It was a clear loss and that why no one really complains about it(apart from B-Hop fans).

So you're saying that BBC Sports were just being biased Yanks when they scored it for Bernard?

From some of the responses on this thread it seems clear to me that this bout is somewhat of a touchy subject.

The BBC are idiots, nobody on this site other than known black supremacists think Hopkins beat the white boy

I scored it for Zag, but it all depends on what you like when you score. I have no issue with someone scoring it for Hopkins.

On a round by round I got the same score over and over, but I can't simply award the fight to Hopkins when he did too much spoiling, and Calzaghe was the only one that behaved like a fighter, that said it was insanely close but the right man got the decision. A while back I would have said Hopkins but I'm perfectly fine with the verdict.
