Floyd's career trajectory according to this is Zab (P4P dangerou... oh, wait...), Oscar De La Hoya ("I'm an old man, so I'll pretend you got me on my liver as well, Amigo!" - career defining) and Winky Wright (That will NEVER happen).

What will happen is that people will then talk about Floyd being a "Future Hall of Famer" and how he "won titles at multiple divisions".

I give the guy credit - unlike the Slop (who ruled over a period of middleweight nobodies and had his "career defining" fights over two little guys who moved up out of their natural weight class) Floyd HAS got talent. He doesn't rely on low output and headbutting to earn his "P4P, HOF" bull**** credentials.

But if this is the route he's planning to take he'll have wasted all his talent becoming a paper champion, taking the easiest way through 140 (Cotto, Harris, Hatton, Gatti? Hmmmmmmmm....) and being lauded for showing superlative ringcraft... against a (largely) diet of tin cans.

    What a waste.

Anorak my limey friend you may be a bit too harsh here.

Remember that Floyd was just about set to fight a guy in Zab Judah that was held in pretty high regard and btw was the undisputed chmap a weight division above the one in which you speak.

Your right Floyd does need to step up and now that Zab has been seriously exposed it is CRUNCH time for Floyd...cant wait to see his next move-that next move of his could make your post look pretty good or it could make it look like a lousy piece of ****.

    Were gonna find out soon.

I agree somewhat. He has lots and lots of talent. Some of his opponents are good, but it seems that he wants to go into fights knowing that he will win. Almost like he is not sure, or he is afraid to challenge someone that can blemish his record.

The thing is, from the looks of it, EVERYONE here wants to see Hatton vs. Mayweather. If he ducks him (remember, regardless of P4P, Hatton IS the No.1 man in the 140 division) what will happen is that people will just come on this board and say "oh, but Mayweather would have won anyway, so..." (personally - and this is nothing to do with nationality - I've got a feeling Hatton would be the one to do a number on Floyd)

It's just like Roy. "Yeah, he ducked so-and-so and such-and-such, and whatsiname, but he would have won anyway, so..."

Yeah? But wouldn't it be nice to see it? Rather than someone poncing about with glorified boxing exhibitions?

After he's retired Super_Lightweight will come on and tell us all he had a chin of granite. (Only kidding S_L! )

What will happen in years to come (yes, I AM still ranting...) is that boxers will be people who are outrageously talented but just spend all day sitting on their big fat arses watching TV and eating Dorritos. Ring Magazine will go "they don't need to prove it, they're P4P". People on the board will go "The way he farted while watching that episode of Lost - HOF"

The posts from this post onwards were from a merged thread situation... I haven't suddenly gone mad and started repeating a thread within itself.

No way. Floyd is not going to fight half as many bums as Roy fought.

Anorak who has Floyd ever ducked? Hatton and Cotto's camps both said they are not ready for Mayweather. So I don't understand why you are complaining.

His projection (you have READ the piece I linked to, right?) is that there's "nothing else" for him to prove beyond the three fighters mentioned. Yet he's a titlist in 140 and will not fight them.

Never mind that Hatton or Cotto aren't ready YET, he has no plans to fight them at all.

I don't blame him, if he can get those fights that he has listed then more power to him. I would rather see him fight Oscar and Winky then Cotto and Hatton to be honest. I doubt he will get Oscar though. So I still think Hatton will be an option for Floyd this year.

Also I dont see why he should wait on those two he tried to get the fights they didnt want him so what is he supposed to do?

Cotto gets busted up if he fights him and Hatton gets UDed easy or busted up like gatti. So to me no matter how long these two wait, Mayweather beats them.

I could see giving Hatton a chance if he would have a fight with someone who had some kind of speed but he has never fought anyone with speed at all. To bad he never fought witter that would have been a good warm up for Floyd and would have given me a reason to say he has a chance against Floyd. The only thing Hattons fights have told me is that he has a good work ethic, solid chin, and he can beat up and out work 35+ year olds. Other than that I dont understand why people act like he can beat Floyd or even have a chance for that matter.

Well anyway the Oscar fight and the Winky fight interest me more than a Hatton fight. But if Hatton offers him a fight this year and he doesnt have that Oscar fight all locked up. Then you can say he ducked Hatton and complain all you want but till then it really isnt justified.

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree, mate. I feel confident that if I ran a poll on here asking what fight people would rather see (omitting Winky Wright because I really DON'T think Floyd would EVER step that far out of his safety zone, I really don't) then I think at least 8 out of 10 would want to see Hatton.

It's all very well saying "yeah, but he probably would have beaten Hatton and Cotto anyway..." That's what people say to justify Roy's "career".
