The winner of Peterson-Matthysse will be top dog at 140, along with Garcia, if he beats Judah.
Yes, and Pacquiao-Marquez in the times he dragged JMM up when he didn't need to.

Petersons a good fighter, personally I can not see him beating Lucas. If he did beat Lucas then I'd be cool with that fight too but Lucas vs Floyd is the fight that I like better and I think even if he losses to Peterson he'd give Floyd a much tougher test style-wise.
We never know who or what Floyd is thinking....but if he mentioned Devon Alexander prior to fighting Guerrero and over Roger and Schaefer have mentioned Maidana of all people before....I could see Matthysse getting his shot possibly. A win over Peterson, who beat Khan, would help big time. Especially if it's in impressive fashion.

The good news is Matthysse and Lamont are both Golden Boy fighters.

And hey....Golden Boy may be thinking this...

They see Danny Garcia as possible "Star" or money maker, if Matthysse beats Peterson, a ton of people will be calling for Garcia-Matthysse. They could see Floyd-Matthysse as a way to keep Danny away from a dangerous fighter like Matthysse.

Lucas applies intelligent pressure, he is one of the very best in the game at cutting a ring off. Hes got a granite chin and huge power in both hands.
          His body punching is lethal.

I think stylistically hes the guy to give Floyd the biggest problems. Not Lara with no inside game, not slow-footed Canelo.

That said I don't feel for one minute he'll have it easy with Guerrero.

I would love to see this presuming they both pull through their next fight and ideally I'd like Lucas to test the waters at 147 first but I'd still have no real problem with it as a first fight at welter.
I think Matthysse struggles to lay a glove on Floyd tbh, way too good defensively.

I'd rather see Mayweather fight the winner of this fight than Alexander. But I'd rather the winner of this fight fight Garcia than Mayweather. No excuse for Garcia not fighting the winner of Matthysse-Peterson after Judah.

No,but if the winner beats Garcia, then yes..I really don't believe any of them(Matt's Peterson or Garcia)have the resume to just move up after a win ad fight Floyd..They should be focus on fighting each other imo...

I'd like to see the winner of this fight Garcia (If he beats Judah) then a fight with Mayweather would be great.

I think the winner of that little tornument is definitely an option being considered for Mayweather.

Canelo is definite option and sadly I also believe Devon Alexander is. If Alexander beats Brook then that fight with Mayweather has a high chance of happening. But he'll have earnt it, in fairness.

Ideally, if Matthysee beats Peterson and Garcia beats Judah then a fight between those 2 will crown the undisputed king at 140 so it would be great if it panned out that way.

I'd still want to see him have a fight at WW first..... a countryman fight against Maidana or Abregu

No, Floyd is too big for those guys. Seven pounds is not that much but it is an edge for Floyd. I doubt Floyd will fight any 154 pounders and if he gives up his WBA 154 pound title he should not have to. Mayweather should defend his 147 pound tittle against the best welterweights. Neither of these guys has ever won a fight at 147.

I agree. Fight genuine welterweights or step up to 154 if he wants to fight there.
