Danny is the truth!
Why the Garcia hate??

Well this post demonstrates why people would hate.
"Experience fighter in Morales" = In reality he was a completely washed up old fighter, who in reality wasnt even top 20 in the division with a Maidana loss and Cano win. And he fought him 2X.
Khan was a great win, he was a top guy in the division and Khan cherry picked him as what he thought was an easy opponent. But he gets way too much credit for Khan. Khan was coming off a loss and was not the top guy anymore, Peterson was, yet he somehow became the "Ring champ" facing the #3 ranked guy. He is not the lineal champ, yet people still think he is. Beating certain fighter gives guys too much credit, I mean if someone beats Khan right now, people will say "he's ranked #2", which is laughable considering he's lost 2 str8. Pac got bumped down to #4 at WW after losing to the 2 best in the world, yet Khan is #2?
Also people base things on skill and I including many dont see Danny as the most skilled guy in the division, he is rather basic, winning all his fights by outworking older fighters and catching a chinless Khan
He's still a top fighter but he is no better then peterson or Lucas, no matter how many manufactured belts he won
But I can agree with thisComment

People hate Garcia because hes marketable and has star power. His dad doesnt help but thats not the only reason. Garcia could be fatherless and people would find another reason to discredit his achievements. Race probably plays a little part of it too. Stars get alot of hate on this site, whether its Garcia, Mayweather, Cotto, Canelo, Manny, Nonito etc...Comment

No, i actually like Garcia, i've gone to his fights but he gets way more credit then he deserves while guys like Lucas get ****ted on. Same with Sergio, i've been to his fights and like him but people hype up his terrible string opponents.Comment

I'm a fan of Garcia and don't really get the hate. But if you look around on NSB it's full of a bunch a haters. They find something bad to say about EVERY boxer. "He's overrated!" "He didn't fight this guy." "He's going to get exposed as soon as..." and on and on and on. From Ali all the way to Broner, they got something to bad to say. To be so called boxing fans, some of these dudes seem to hate boxers.
Garcia's a good up and coming champion. He hasn't been truly tested but he's been handling everybody they put in front of him. As a fan I want him to face Matthyssee and rematch Khan. I think a fight with Lamont Peterson would be good too (Lamont takes him out imo). Then maybe fight Broner when/if he moves up to 140.Comment

Who hates on Lucas? If anything GBP doesn't give a **** about him, I agree, but most people recognize Lucas as being the real threat @ 140.Comment

But what has Matt's done to really get any hype??Who has he beat??Danny imo does not get the credit he deserves, while guy's like Lucas(who has beat nobody of note)get's hype to the heavens..Comment

I really don't understand the hate this kid gets??It really bothers me that this kid does not get any credit..
I mean,he fought a very experienced fighter in Morales when he was still very green..He left no doubt(although I did feel the fight was close),he fought Khan..I really felt he was not ready to be in the ring with Khan at that point,he proved me wrong,oh and left no doubt..He completely destroyed Morales in the rematch(might have been a top 5 KO of last yr)..
Oh and btw the kid is 24 yrs of age and has only 25 pro bouts..
Yet I here people just tear into how undeserving how garbage and how ordinary he is..I've even heard people say that Matt's is the best in his(Garcia's)div..While Danny has the ring belt..I mean is this crap serious??
Thoughts??
His dad is a prick and I hate him. Nah, just messing around, his dad is a jackass but he is kind of funny, annoying after a while but he is a good promotional weapon.
As far as Danny goes, I think he is a good boxer with a powerful "no look" left hook who has heart, power, and decent speed. The thing is though, his resume isn't the kind of resume that makes me think he is a "top-tier" fighter. Sure he beat Khan but to be fair to Khan, he was tagging Garcia up pretty well in the first couple of rounds and it only took that one hook to close the show. He did make some small noticeable adjustments that allowed him to stall Khan's attack which I can respect but I feel Khan overlooked him to a degree and paid the price for it.
I feel the Morales wins were average as he was way past his prime in those fights. I think the first win was better than the second one because Erik was just another sparring partner in the ring the second time around.
Beyond those fights, his best wins were over Kendall Holt where he eeked out a SD and Theopane. There is also a way past it Nate Campbell which I consider a pretty good win.
I also feel that the hype HBO, GBP, and the fans in general are giving him is giving him that pedestal mentality (big headed ego). I saw that he didn't take the training properly when this Judah fight was supposed to first happen and I sincerely hope he has taken it to heart now.
Judah's resume has a much, much, higher level of competition on it. I know the Baldomir loss is a serious eye sore to read but like Garcia, I feel Judah overlooked him going into that fight.
Judah is a very well conditioned athlete and his losses came to: prime Cotto, prime Mayweather, prime Spinks, prime Baldomir, focused Khan and a prime Tszyu. Judah is older but he isn't as washed up as people would like to believe. If he can keep his distance and work the jab, his confidence will grow as the fight progresses and I can see Garcia getting worked over.Last edited by mathed; 03-06-2013, 02:12 PM.Comment

Lucas beat Devon, who was ranked #3, Soto who was top 10, and Ajose who was ranked 9th. Soto wasnt prime but he was still good and the other 2 were prime. If they held belts like Morales' fake one, theyd be ranked top 5 easy.Comment
