Whilst a broken jaw is no joke; the guy quit, period!

Yeah its a bad injury (not life threatening) but I am struggling to think of another fighter who has quit from similar circumstances.
Ali, Mathebula, Paulie, Abraham etc etc went on and in most cases it was early on & against huge punchers!
Abraham actually made a ridiculous amount of fans for his heart in that fight!
He was rewarded for his bravery.

Sure it may hurt like hell but with the adrenaline and what was at stake I think nearly any fighter would consider going on, even if they ran from the next 3 rounds.

I don't fault the guy for that particular fight/incident but he did quit.

Where was it ever stated that his jaw was broken in the 5th round? When was that proven? Because if it was, I honestly missed that news.

As for the question about my jaw : No, I've never suffered a broken jaw, but I fail to see how that negates my ability to comment on the events that transpire within the confines of a boxing ring.

Or are you trying to imply that people are only allowed to comment on things with which they have firsthand experience of? Because if so, that's exceedingly ****** logic, and you'd be disqualifying yourself from being able to comment on the vast majority of things you comment on in the lounge.

The medical reports said he had 2 breaks, one happened earlier in the fight (most speculate it happened late int he 5th or int he 6th) and then the compound fracture in the 9th.

You can talk about anything you want, even things you didn't take part in but you should have more empathy understanding the violence and courage that involves pro boxing.

People that are mentioning other fighters fighting on gotta take into account different severities of fractures. Sure a lot of fighters go on fighting with a broken jaw but it could just be a hairline fracture, yea its painful but you can probably get past that pain. A compound fracture on the other hand is broken all the way through the bone and the bone is coming through the skin, which is very painful. I have had both fractures (not in my jaw) but in my hand I walked around almost a week before I got the less severe fracture even checked out the compound fracture, on the other hand I went straight to the emergency room and they were giving me morphine (granted i was a little younger when this happened) So comparing this to other fighters that have fought on with broken jaws is unfair

well he is a quitter based on the maidana fight and imo he was looking for a way out against mayweather too. you cant criticize him for throwing in the towel against lopez though, not with an injury like that.

Jesus, knew it was badly broken but never seen the image!! I don't think anybody has the right to blame him after breaking his jaw, there's very few fighters with the fortitude to carry on after that happens. I can only think of Ali and Abraham that have done it.

I don't see Victor as having no heart, I feel that if the fight is close enough that he feels he can win or is winning, he'll fight all night, like in the Berto and Peterson fights. But if he feels that he's slipping out of the fight and there's no way back then he'll opt for an early night! Like against Maidana and Mayweather!

It's that he has a weak mentality. And it's for the same reason that people don't like him and call him a quitter is the reason that people watch him. You just don't know whats going to happen, whether he'll be KO'd or will knock somebody out! I see Ortiz as the antithesis of Khan, who has the willpower but not the chin! I don't particularly like the guy's but I will watch them fight!

I've never seen X-ray pics of Abraham's jaw, but I'm pretty certain that his was as bad as Ortiz', but there's very few fighters that will endure through the pain!

I didn't see that fight but I just looked it up the pics look horrible it almost looks worse than Ortiz's.
