People need to stop calling Ortiz a quitter. If it was his nose then yea you can call him a quitter cuz only pu$$ies quit after suffering a broken nose but this was his jaw for crying out loud.

      Of course he didn't quit.

But hey, who gives a fck? We know that those internet warriors who mocked him would have fought on with their jaw hanging off, that we know.

Victor fought 4 rounds with a severely broken jaw, the fact he kept on going was amazing. Having a broken jaw is probably the worst injury you can have in boxing.

He also had a compound fracture, that's crazy.
He didn't fight for 4 rounds with a broken jaw. His jaw was broken at the end of the 9th round, literally moments before he walked back to his corner and quit.

I think that's why people had such a problem with it - The fact that he didn't even make an attempt to persevere. He quit as soon as the injury occured. The same way that Hopkins did against Dawson in their first fight.

As for Jack Reiss's comment : Yes, he did quit, Jack. Nothing you can say will change that fact. He quit. Period.

          Of course he quit.

By definition, he decided on his own accord to stop fighting. That is quitting.

It doesn't mean it wasn't justifiable, though. A long list would have done the exact same in that situation.

Fighting on could potentially derail his future career and thus earning potential in the sport. Quit? No, he had a fight ending injury and that's that.

Everyone's a tough guy over the web.

No, he quit. It really is that simple.

              Do you need a dictionary?

Also, I find it hilarious that anytime somebody tells the truth here people like you refer to them as "tough guys" or "keyboard warriors". I never claimed to be either, I just don't sugarcoat the fact that Ortiz quit.

He broke his jaw first in the 5th, then had the compound fracture in the 9th. Bringer I'm surprised you would say something so ignorant.

You ever had a broken jaw, or fought with one?

I'll never give a fighter flack for not fighting on with a broken jaw. That must be incredibly painful and possibly very ****** in regards to your future career.

In a fight vs. Floyd or Pac and if you're in the fight then maybe, but no in a stay busy fight vs. Lopez.

Broken nose is a different situation to me, but who am i to judge.
Just don't do the "it stings!!" Devon Alexander bit and i'm fine.

Yes by definition he quit. But I wouldn't tease him or talk **** about him, quiting was justified due to the severity of his injury imo.

Where was it ever stated that his jaw was broken in the 5th round? When was that proven? Because if it was, I honestly missed that news.

As for the question about my jaw : No, I've never suffered a broken jaw, but I fail to see how that negates my ability to comment on the events that transpire within the confines of a boxing ring.

Or are you trying to imply that people are only allowed to comment on things with which they have firsthand experience of? Because if so, that's exceedingly ****** logic, and you'd be disqualifying yourself from being able to comment on the vast majority of things you comment on in the lounge.

                      Just sayin'.
