I have no issue with Broner but I didn't like that for two reasons, one (and I may be wrong) it seemed as if he was just supporting a fighter based on race and two, it felt like he was hoping Abril got beat because he is a rival, instead of wanting him to win so he could fight him.

First thing that came to mind.

I have plenty of issues with Broner and he looked like a little schoolgirl in the back jumping like that. But I guess he's used to looking like a clown by now.

And this is why as much as I like Richard, he will never be much more than what he is, an awkward, highly skilled fighter that is anything but crowd pleasing. I doubt he'll get a shot at the top guys at 135 or 140 because he's too dangerous and awkward and the networks won't be too eager to give him air time.

Sadly, his best performance may be a "loss" against Brando Rios.

That was EXACTLY what I was gonna say! He wants so bad to be the center of attention, but I thought he looked a little "fruity" jumping up and down like that with his hands the way he had them. And I might add, no one should ever be allowed to give, share, or sell gum to that guy. And the way he chews it like he's the coolest thing since eskimo pie.

Side note: I don't want to see Abril anywhere near Broner in the ring. Broner would destroy him IMO. I would, however unlikely, love to see Russell Jr vs. Broner. But I don't see that happening this decade, Gary will probably always be one to two weight classes behind Broner moving up.

Side, side note - I think maybe Russell Mora might be mentally dyslexic. For whatever reason, he gets this bug up his butt about the wrong fighter and spends all night warning the wrong guy (like in Mares/Agbeko). If he couldn't see that the reason Abril was having to grab/push Bogere's head down was because he was coming in like a pissed off hooker who didn't get paid her **** money, he either needs some very thick glasses or a very lengthy check up with his phsyciatrist. Now I'm not saying Richar hasn't held too much in the past, but in this case I thought he was completely justified. Bogere was like a wild woman in there, if he hadn't have had gloves on I wouldn't be surprised if he wouldn't have also tried to scratch Abrils eyes out.

Many people noticed that tonight. Race is an obvious part of Broner's bias and his past controversial rantings hammer that point in.

I think tonight's crowd was appreciating Abril's work in there. They were certainly booing Mora every time he picked on Abril.

You think Broner destroys Abril but want a 5'4" Gary Russell Jr in there with him? A guy who has bad hands too. Something is wrong with you...

Well, Broner DID just fight a 5'3" midget. It would be a step up.

Abril has enough sting on his punches to get respect. Hell, I even recall a few moments where he momentarily paused Rios' aggression. He's not feather-fisted, but he doesn't have concussive power.

Yeah, I was happy to hear some appreciation in there. They seemed to boo Mora, and I heard some good cheering any time Abril landed something clean. Hell, he was really the only guy landing clean with any bit of consistency. He was clearly the better fighter, and Bogere's dirty tactics may have turned people off.

I don't think Broner destroys Abril. He may beat him - although stylistically I think it's an interesting matchup - but I don't really see Abril being 'destroyed'. Abril's a real smooth operator in there, but he's also got some real heart and I think a good chin. He's not a monster by any means, but I think he has the skills to make a lot of guys look bad, even if he doesn't end up with the decision.
