Cordoba is a pretty good puncher and an experienced guy.

I think Cordoba can punch and being a lefty it threw Rigo off.

I think he saw Marroquin's punches better.
I can only speculate. In a general sense, I think it was his inexperience as a pro. It was only Rigo's seventh pro fight. Playing armchair psychologist, I'd say he instinctively reverted to his amateur conditioning. I mean, the man had over 400 amateur fights going into the Cordoba fight. It appears that Guillermo determined it was more prudent to take the safe road, knowing he was winning and would continue to outbox Ricardo.

That performance really hurt Rigo's stock. I don't doubt that it bothered him. Guillermo came roaring back in his next fight and absolutely tore through Willie Casey: first round KO, with multiple knockdowns. Since the Cordoba fight, we haven't seen Rigondeaux fight the same way he did in those last six rounds. He didn't run from Marroquin, despite being rocked with a couple of hooks.

I think a lot of people simply don't know enough about Rigo to make an educated prediction. Donaire is far more popular and better known. If one ever gets down to really analyzing the two fighters, the outcome becomes far less certain in our minds. I've always considered Donaire the favorite. Maybe I just want to believe Guillermo will win, but the closer I look at this fight, the better I see Rigo's chances.

I'm at a loss as to why he responded the way he did versus Ricardo. My best explanation is that he was simply inexperienced as a pro. I expect Rigo to fight somewhat carefully against Donaire, but I would be highly disappointed, to say the least, if Guille ran around and made the fight boring.
It's in Rigo's make up to make the fight boring when he gets in trouble. I think Nonito is somewhat the same way. I love that this type of matchup is made, but, it also has the makings of a boring fight.

I'm going with Rigo on this one(although I'm not 100% confident with my pick). Seeing as how easily Nonito gets busted up.

Yeah, Nonito might have some difficulty seeing at some point in this fight.

Nonito Donaire gets stronger as the fight goes on, the same can't be said for Rigo.

Nonito has a great chin and I don't believe Rigo has the power to hurt Nonito. Rigo's chin is very suspect and one power shot from Nonito could end it like that.

Rigo is a good fighter but he has never faced a fighter the caliber of Nonito. Donaire has too much power for Rigo.
