who the **** cares, this ain't a popularity contest...
Being champion for 11 years and having top competition since your 11th professional fight is not overrated...
He's not like Julio Cesar Chavez who would fight 40 odd bums before he faces someone with a pulse....Kostya was great
Dude, anyone who gets KTFO in his prime by a fighter like Vince Phillips is not great in my book, did he avenged his lose to Phillips, the answer to that is a big NO! His best wins are Zab & Mitchell, nuff said!
Have you seen Tyszu fight?
he was a very intelliegent fighter aswell as powerful, he would of gave PBF a hell of a fight....
I don't know what you got against him, but you are definetly in the minority
I have nothing against him, I actually like the man, but I think his fans overrates him to a digree that makes me throw up.
Kosta Tsyzu is a classic example of a veteran warrior who learned his craft extremely well. The guy was fighting on the Soviet amatuer team for years, had hundreds and hundreds of amatuer bouts. The guy took those skilles and perfected them into a great pro style. Over rated? Hell no.
His first pro fight he takes a guy who is 7-1 out in one round. @nd fights takes a guy out in 1 round who had fought 27 times previously. Beats an older Juan Laporte, former champion, in his 4th bout, Livingstone Bramble in his 10th bout and then knocks off Angel Henandez and Pedro Sanchez by ko back to back in his 12th and 13th bouts. Add wins over Roger Mayweather, Jake Rodriguez and Corey Johnson and that spells a rather succesfull run with a title belt to boot, and he still had under 17 fights while achioeving all of those impressive accomplishments
Yes, he lost his belt to Phillips but that was a close and great fight. The list of defenses that he made was an impressive list of tough fighters for the most part. Calvin Grove, while older. Raefael Ruelas, one tough ****er. Miguel Angel Gonzalez, Julio Ceasr Chavez, Sharmba Mitchell, Zab Judah and a lose to Ricky Hatton.
How in the hell can you figure that this guy is over rated. The guy was brought up from a kid to be a fighter and he is just that. A dedicated and technically sound professional with loads of heart. The only thing over rated in this thread is your perception that you are on to something saying that Tsyzu is overrated. You have missed the boat, or better to say that there never was a boat. Get real man, disgracing a true professional warrior with that slander.

Rockin'
Rockin you just proved my point, he has beaten many over the hill fighters, his best wins still is Zab & Mitchell. When anyone considers him an alltime great, that is when I consider Tszyu overrated, yes he was a very good fighter, but he's not an all time great, like his nut-hugging fans make him out to be.
So because he didnt have the Joe Fraizer to throw in trilogies with, he can not be an all-time great? He disposed of the 2 top-top contenders in rather impressive fashion and then loses a bout to a younger and fresher opponent at age 35.
The guy has skill. Sam Langford never even won a title and is considered and all-time great because of the skill that he possesed. He fought and beat what was out there for him at the time. So did Kosta Tsyzu. A pedigree amatuer turns into a world class fighter and he can not be considered great because he only beat Zab Judah and Sarmba Mitchell. The mother f**ker has an abundance of skill, he has just gotten older. Kosta Tsyzu over rated, Please.......

Joe Louis got ko'd by Schmeling in his prime. Jack Dempsey by Tunney. Ali by Frazier. Pep lost to Saddler. The list goes on and on. Do these loses make these fighters not great?
Loses happen. Its what the fighter does after the lose that counts. Tyszu came back just fine from that lose.
Gunstar, how does it feel to have your idol PBF picking old scraps from Kostya's table? And Floyd can't even look as good against worn-out, losing versions of Zab and Mitchell as Kostya did against prime, winning versions of them. ROFL
And the 2nd Mitchell fight he was coming off of a 2 year layoff for god's sake. LOL
People have always UNDERrated Kostya actually. That's why he was an underdog in many of his high-profile fights. Against Judah and Mitchell he was supposed to lose, remember? LOL

Ali never got stopped by Frazier, he lost a UD to Frazier. Joe Louis knocked Schmeling out in the rematch, I didn't see Tszyu going after a rematch, he never fought the great Phillips again.
Tszyu is not an all time great, I think it's crazy for anyone to even consider Tszyu an all time great.

Ah shut up you ******, your just a PBF hater & Tszyu ball-hugger. Funny thing is you mention the Zab fight, Tszyu almost got KTFO by Zab in the first round, he was holding Zab like a little girl. Did I ever consider Zab to be great?
