with respect, who is BPP and what is he to the negotiations? i have no clue.
gentlemen, of course Floyd Mayweather is greedy. of course an offer of 2.5 million dollars is not overly generous. that's the name of the game. does Robert Guerrero want to be where Floyd Mayweather is or not? when Mayweather wanted to be where Oscar De La Hoya was, he accepted that he would give up 68% of the split to De La Hoya. he accepted that he would fight in a ring that would be sized to De La Hoya's liking. he accepted that he would wear the Reyes gloves that De La Hoya wanted him to wear. why? because he was determined to beat the man and become the man by doing so. granted that Floyd was paid much more in that fight and received a higher percentage of the split than Guerrero is being offered here here, but, guess what? Mayweather was the pound for pound Picasso. he had already headlined PPV events. he had already made multi-million dollar purses. he had beaten titlists in every division he'd ever fought in. and knowing that he needed to beat 'the man' to get to the next level, he accepted what he had to accept to get that fight on. on the other hand, has anyone seen who this big bully Guerrero won his IBF 126 and 130 titles from and successfully defended them against? 140lb Gatti and Baldomir are veritable live bodies by comparison to the guys Guerrero took titles from, and i'm not even going to get into the disparity between he and Floyd's achievements at 130. Guerrero hasn't even unified a pair of flimsy title belts. lately he's been an interim king. more important than title belts won, his body of work is straight up thin, his best wins are an ancient Casa, Katsidis coming off a brutal stoppage loss, plus life and death struggles with an undistinguished clubber in Aydin and a Berto coming off a long layoff who had laboured and received a dubious win against Jan Zaveck in his previous fight.
and, yes, Bradley reportedly received $5,000,000 for the Pacquiao fight despite bringing little to the table economically, but he was significantly more accomplished and respected than Guerrero, too - pound for pound rated fighter, twice unified, had beaten Witter more impressively than anyone had at that point, had dominated Holt, had dominated Alexander, had dominated Peterson, etc. Bradley brought with him some creditability, a level of recognizable esteem, that Guerrero does not.
2.5 million is still double Guerrero's best payday so far and he should be biting Mayweather's hand off to prove that he's the best.
sincerely, to blazes with Guerrero. even he doesn't think he can win. i don't want to see Mayweather in with a guy who left it all on the negotiation table and doesn't have enough left in him to win the boxing match.
if Guerrero thought he could beat Mayweather, he'd scoop up that reported 2.5 million, he'd bask in all the exposure that would be coming his way and he'd go and kick Mayweather's ass and make a star out of himself.
as for what he brings to the table, he has no recognizable fanbase, a wallpaper personality and an already overplayed hard luck tale that will cater to the usual humble good guy vs. brash bad guy dynamic which exists in pretty much any Mayweather fight regardless of who the opponent is. as soon as Mayweather is done with Robert's batty, all those casuals will forget about how moved they were by Robert's emotional story (disposable soap-opera to the masses, nothing unique).
if Guerrero is haggling and holding this fight up because he wants more than 2.5 million (the same sum that Victor Ortiz, a bigger name back then than Guerrero is now, was paid), he's a joke and i hope Mayweather doesn't give him what he wants, because i don't want to see Mayweather fighting a guy who doesn't believe he can win.
Robert Guerrero is selling a rectum. Orlando Salido and Daud Yordan have been up in there, but it's still somewhat tight and greasy with a bit of use left in it. a snip at 4 million USD.

With all due respect homie you're talking like this $4 million demand is 100% true. It's been said money is NOT the hold up. There are other minor details being ironed out in the contract. This fight will be made and Guerrero will take a low offer of $2.5 million. Guerrero is also in it to win it. He's no push over.

True but as someone pointed out, Guerrero may actually have the grip on Mayweather. In facing Alexander, not only does Floyd lose money, he'll also face an overwhelming amount of criticism. We're talking about a guy who many felt was given gift decisions against Kotelnik, Matthysse, then quit against Bradley.
I read he is trying to get 4mil when Floyd is the real attraction. He should be happy with whatever offer we throw at him and be happy to be getting the chance. Gotta respect him for trying though. We might throw Robert some xtra crumbs for bossing up:
Just lets yall know its always about the money but people only get on Floyd for thinking like that.
Floyd fans just don't get it.
First of all this $4 million is just a rumor and said to be incorrect.
The difference between Guerrero and Floyd:
- Guerrero: High risk, high reward by taking on Berto and now Floyd
- Floyd : Low risk Marquez, Hatton, Sharmba, Ortiz and Guerrero have a total of 5 fights at WW, high reward ($ money $)

i don't know who BPP is, but i know who Jeff Mayweather is. that's not conclusive, but, unlike others here, i don't just take the word of a forum admin for gospel without a source.
i did say on more than one occasion, "if Guerrero is haggling and holding this fight up..."

the more significant difference between Guerrero and Floyd:
-extremely large gulf in market value
-extremely large gulf in achievement-level over the course of respective careers

What's up Floyd? Why are you crying about a couple mill, you have that in your back pocket. Just sign to fight the man, give him his "crumbs" and beat him, I mean you ARE the greatest of all time aren't you?
We don't want to see you stuck fighting Alexander. Are you ready to face Pac yet, now that he got KTFO?

Guerrero, Alexander, different styles, same fecal matter. neither guy truly believes he can win. both mediocre opponents.
i take your point, though. Guerrero would likely try to milk that situation. doesn't mean he deserves the extra dough, even if he gets it.
