The word "humble" is misinterperted by boxing fans. The fact that Manny is not a loud mouth, cussing and carrying on fool makes him a "humble" man in many folks eyes!!
However he is a pro fighter who attained a high level of competitiveness and has made millions of dollars.
To be able to compete in boxing you need an attitude that supports your hard work in training and that work ethic is attached to your ego that enables you to fight with complete confidence that you'll succeed. The average person can't relate to that amount of ego because they've never taken on a challenge in their lives that can compare to it!!
