How far can George Groves go in boxing?

Thought he looked excellent against Johnson. I think he's already good enough to beat Arthur Abraham, give him 18 months and he could beat Froch. I just hope when the time is right, Andre Ward won't duck Groves like he ducked Lucian Bute

He will get as far as a rematch with DeGale and get knocked out.

I think Groves has a good shot at beating Abraham for a world title if he can secure the fight.

He might be able to beat Abraham, but I've never thought of Groves as someone who could become a huge force in the division. 168 lbs is actually a really stacked division and I just can't see Groves beating the likes of Dirrel, Bute, Ward, Froch, Kessler and co. In fact, if a rematch ever happens, I pick DeGale to really shine. James lacked a killer instinct in their first fight and really stood off. If he picks up his activity levels, he'd beat Groves.

Very good offensive fighter, but his defensive work still lacks and his chin really concerns me.

He should be able to beat Abraham if he fights smart and avoids getting caught, but I still see him getting stopped by Froch. I wouldn't even have a doubt about Frock taking that fight.

I would like to see him against Sakio Bika next.

I don't think he'll go far in the sport.

Johnson is just a punch bag these days, he can't pull the trigger. Groves got the job done and it's a name on his CV. He looks a decent offensive fighter but I'm not sure about his ability to take a big punch. Kenny Anderson planted him on his arse, and the likes of Froch would spark him out.

I think Groves' defence has improved considerably since the Anderson fight. Against Sierra he just got caught with the kind of cuffing shot that opens a cut, but he dealt with it fine. I think Groves would box Bika's head off for 12 rounds and win a wide UD. I don't think George is ready for the Cobra just yet, but say he fights 5 times in the next 2 years, then he would be, remember Carl will be 37.

Agreed, Johnson is a shot fighter, but he still knows enough to trouble any 15 fight novice like Groves. It was a learning fight for George, and he looks to me like he's ready to step up a level, not to fight the likes of Ward, Froch and Kessler. But I think he would beat Abraham, Pavlik, Stieglitz, Adonis Stevenson

I agree, Johnson had so many times to throw the right and land but couldn't pull the trigger. Groves is a good fighter but I think he'll get stopped by a big puncher who comes to fight, such as Abraham.
