Honestly, don't read anything into Johnson-Groves. Groves was deliberately defenceless as Johnson wasn't throwing anything back.

I think he's one of our better prospects but his defensive flaws were obvious from very early on. He's got that reflex based style that Haye has and he leaks a lot of punches. Looks like he's got some power though and that right hand is vicious, he throws it well of the counter and his killer instinct is very good.

His chin looks ok and Sierra hurt him to the body, coupled with a leaky defence and you can see him with problems against the best at 168. He's sparred Froch, upset the Cobra and was dealt a prompt beating. Pressure fighters will be his undoing. Worried about how easy he cuts too...

I think he goes all the way and picks up a world title and has a successful career.

LOL, DeGale is having a hard time KO-ing bums, let alone fighters of Groves' level.

        This ^^^^^.

He seems to cut in every fight. At this time, against a decent pressure fighter, he'd be lucky to survive 12 rounds.

He can potentially win a world title and make a few defences. Ultimately he will fall short at the elite level.

His pasty skin is a big worry he marks and cuts easy but talent wise very good offensively fast, seems too have good power, good stamina and nice combos defensively he has too improve if he fights Abraham.I think a perfect fight would be Stiglitz be a good test but i think he could be fighting AA.Groves is better then Degale

Very Talented, has excellent speed and quickness and can be very slick at times but he tends to get sloppy defensively and just depends on avoiding punches instead of trying to block some of them as well

so I think Groves can go pretty far, can he beat Andre Ward...PROBABLY NOT but he could probably beat guys like Adonis Stevenson, Arthur Abraham and I think his style would give Froch some problems

I go with the majority on here regarding George Groves' qualities. I think he can be a fringe world class/contender but will fall short of elite. Not that it's a problem at all. He's a good fighter but not everyone can be at the very top of the sport. Groves can do better than most but I doubt he'll reach the pinnacle. He'll have a good career, if there are no major mishaps.

George will definitely get to world level and fight for a world title, and probably win at some point in his career. Whether he can make that next step up to elite level, with the likes of Ward, Froch and Kessler we will see. You never know, he's developing well, one thing George needs to be wary of is trading with punchers.

Do any of you guys think Degale could go further? I'm a big fan of both

                    Based on recent form, no.

I thought he edged Groves in their fight, but since then Groves has made very good progress while DeGale seems to have taken steps back. That whole thing he's doing right now of slapping, working in spurts and then resting on the ropes is going to land him in trouble.

My prediction is that he'll be a top 5 SMW by the end of 2013.
