No I didn't miss that but who cares what he weighs a MONTH out? Seriously? How about you care what he weighs on weigh-in/fight night? Little bit more relevant. Why ask for a CW when Ward is plainly not going below 168. And WTF with the idea that Floyd goes to 168. Dude, are you doing bath salts or something? WARD HIMSELF has admitted Martinez is too small. Seriously, what argument are you to trying to make when the guy himself says Sergio's too small. The Martinez-Ward fight isn't happening and a big part of it is because WARD THINKS SERGIO IS TOO SMALL FOR 168. End of ******** story. I don't know how many kleenex boxes, tampons, and chocolates you're going to need to get over that reality.

1) Ward would not and cannot go down to 164. 168 is Ward's first division his first few fights were all at the super middleweight limit. Martinez's first division is 147, 168 would be his fourth division moving up and by the time a fight between Ward and Martinez happens he will be 38.But a month before fight night he weighed 176 or did you miss that?? How come he doesn't ask for a "catch weight" of 164 that is right in the middle. I GUARANTEE if Floyd moved up from WW to 168 Sergio would fight him with no problem. But with Ward "I am too small" and talk about small Floyd came in 150 and 151 for both of his fights at JMW
2) There's not as much money in fighting Ward as there is fighting Mayweather, Canelo, Cotto, etc. Dawson made only $600,000 fighting Ward. Andre, being the titleholder at 168 would get the lions-share of the purse. At 160 Martinez call the shots. Martinez made 1.5 mil against Barker and 1.5 mil against Macklin.
3) Martinez is willing to go down to 154 while Ward isn't willing and isn't able to make 160 because of the extra muscle he carries.
4) The fight makes no sense and neither guy is currently pushing for it.
5) Junior Middleweights like Saul Alvarez and James Kirkland weighed 168 and 171 on fight night on their last fights respectively. Martinez usually weighs between 165(Barker)-167(Chavez Jr) on fight night.Last edited by BafanaBafana; 12-27-2012, 09:16 PM.Comment

Since Martinez is "the man" now and the champ.. he should get Chavez down to a 156-158 catchweight. He might be able to put out a weaker Chavez.Comment

You say he weighs 165 on fight night?? What is closer 154 or 168 when you fight?? Idc about the weigh in shyt... Because Ward is not known for ballooning up on fight night like Chavez Jr is period. So people saying he should fight 154 and give them **** for not fighting Martinez, the same could be said for him not calling out Ward who is the 2nd best in the world.
Here is why he hasn't called out Ward: One Ward is smarter in the ring, Ward would not get bullied around, he has better defense, much more technical as a fighter, he knows how to fight on the inside, and outside, he is probably just as fast as Martinez, and is he is young and disciplined.
So you mean to tell me if Mayweather was like "For my next I am moving up to 168 and anybody can get it including Sergio." Would Sergio say "Floyd is too big?" Or would he fight him like we all know he would. So if he would fight Chavez jr, who is known to weigh atleast around 180 plus on fight night, he can face Ward who weighs less than that.
I am not taking anything away from Sergio because he is easily #3 on the list of top fighters, but all I am saying that if he can fight one class below his weight, than he can fight one class above his weight. So don't call the cats in his class or below his class scared, when he makes no mention of the #2 fighter one above his class.
Andre Ward himself said Martinez is too small. so the fight doesn't make sense because Martinez isn't a big middleweight.
Martinez only moved up because NOBODY at 154 would fight him.
Ward can't go below 168 and Martinez isn't going up to 168 so let's be realistic.
and currently nobody with at name at 154-160 will fight Martinez period.
sorry but facts are factsComment

Money Mayweather wants to keep making easy money and protecting his ZERO. that's fine he's at the end of his career and he doesn't have to prove anything.
it's like his dad said, a fight with Martinez is dangerous and he doesn't need to prove anything.
Canelo is young and has a bright future, getting KTFO by Martinez might ruin the kid and end Golden Boy's cash cow.
boxing is a business at the end of the day and Martinez is too dangerous for either Mayweather or Canelo. too much risk and too little rewardComment

Yet somehow your post comes of like it's ok to walk around calling yourself the best anything without actually fighting the best. If he has nothing to prove **** off and retire..Yeah a fight with Martinez is dangerous, just like a fight with Paul Williams was dangerous..the difference here is those two guys were legit p4p fighters who would face anyone who threatened their position on that list. I don't care for Floyd's last 5 years worth of competition to put him anywhere near my top 3 p4p solely because of a zero next to his record. There are guys who've taken losses during that span that deserve the spot more than he does because they've actually fought the top guys of their divisions or the best competition available in their division. I love floyd's gifts but this whole he shouldn't fight this guy and he should fight that guy has gotten sickening. You either fight the top 3 guys of your division or you keep it moving. The business side of boxing is a scapegoat these days one fans take to entirely too often to defend a guys choices. Before you or someone else start with the pacquaio crowing it applies to him too..if he comes back and fights a fluffer screw him too. I'm an old head fan of this sport, you either fight the best or go sit your ass at home and enjoy the rest of your life. I support those who crave to be the best by truly putting the best names on their resume, the moment you want to take an easy fight make sure you do so because there are no other options there.Money Mayweather wants to keep making easy money and protecting his ZERO. that's fine he's at the end of his career and he doesn't have to prove anything.
