MARV DAVE..look at it from my view though..the only guys that say being a pro boxer doesnt matter in terms of boxing knowledge are guys that WERE NOT pros. It also deepends on what kind of expertise in the sport you are talking about. If me and three other 12 round pros were siting around talking about what it is like to be in 12 round fights, get hurt in a fight, etc etc.. and you were sitting there with us... u do know that your input into a conversation on THOSE aspects of boxing would be pointless, right? (no disrespect intended). Would I be able to sit in with a bunch of pilots, rock climbers, extreme sport athletes, rugby players, etc etc and talk shop with them and make valid points and give true insight on those activities that THEY would value??? Of course NOT. You need to give more respect to the knowledge of boxing that ONLY A FIGHTER could possibly have.

I have nothing but respect for anyone that steps in the ring..it is a dangerous business. I never "disrespect" a "real" fighters opinion, just as you shouldn't disrespect an opinion of others without more knowledge of their insights. What a lonely and unprofitable business Boxing would be if only fighters could comment,participate in the business or write about it.

i am also part of the espn message boerds. i always read the crap don rafael writes. this guy is such an idiot. he gave mayweather so much crap for fighting mitchell, but when hatton faught mausa he talked about how good of a move that was. Now za is fighting "whats his name" and don has **** to say. he tore into castillo for not making weight but said nothing about corrales mouth piece insident. he is such an idiot, not because he gives his opinion but because he is a HYP.

2nd, I told you to PAY ATTENTION. Floyd ain't done squat the past few years and like Roy fans started to turn on Roy for fighting garbagemen, what few fans Floyd have are starting to turn on him and reporters like Rafael are doing him a favor by ragging on him.

As far as Floyd calling out Hatton, well big whoop. Though Floyd makes you wet your pants, calling out Winky and Hatton means nothing if Floyd ain't got the cents enough to add up the finances. Wink is the draw, not Floyd, so nobody is gonna give Floyd 80% of the purse to watch Winky beat him down. Floyd won't travel to England to fight Hatton where all the money is. Floyd wants to give Hatton short money to travel to the US to fight in a smaller promotion? Promoters are laughin' at Floyd, and I'm laughin' at Floyd and YOU. Floyd don't really want the money anyways. All he does is give it to his lawyers to bail him out of trouble.

So now Hatton is a free agent and being courted by HBO and may well come to America where the fight can be made, IF Floyd takes short money. He ain't the draw and the best fighter he's beat the past 3 years is Gatti who ain't the class of the division. You've got to live with it dude. It's not only Don Rafael. There are a lot more of writers/columnist even fight panelist who are silly biased for the fighters they are supporting.

I just can't remember who but there was this panelist/commentator who was phrasing and giving all props to his fighter whose face is being battered inside the ring. It's just ****i'n ridiculous.
