Floyd even against Oscar, possibly the biggest I've seen Floyd on fight night, weighed 150 lbs against him. Yet we have people here who like to claim he was 155+ when he fought Marquez. Yeah alright........

But, it's like, guess what? I don't want to argue about this anymore. Somebody always starts these threads defending this fighter or trying to validate his legitimacy as a fighter. It's like, if he's so good, why is there all these threads where you have to argue about whether he is good or not? Why does someone have to defend his actions? Why do you have to convince me he is good? The great fighters never need their fans to convince people they are good. Actions speak louder than words. But, with Mayweather it's the opposite. This dude always has threads made about him everyday and I'm getting tired of always debating about this dude. I'm over it and the debates never gets anywhere.

Arite Larry, how about Floyd fights Martinez at 160 or Ward at 168? because that's what he made Marquez do.

No one's done to Marquez what Mayweather did - a thorough butt kicking. His detractors can no longer use weight advantage as an excuse and they also like to forget that Floyd was coming off a two year layoff. A great win.

that isn't your point larry, this thread (you made) is asking why he doesnt get credit.

How much credit would Martinez get for beating Mayweather at 160 or Ward for beating him at 168?

Floyd isnt that ****** but Marquez wanted the payday badly enough and Mayweather wouldn't even meet him at the catchweight.

You can't believe for a second Marquez or Pacquiao have any business at welterweight, those dudes are not welterweights at all. Mayweather has been fighting at 140 or above since 2004. Pacquiao and Marquez were still at 130 in 2008. Come on, man. That fight Mayweather had against Marquez was a joke, and no one gave Marquez any kind of chance in that fight. Everyone knew Mayweather would beat him. Please stop it, though. Don't act like anyone gave Marquez a shot going into that fight. It was a joke fight.
Yes it is. Like a previous poster stated, going up to 160 or 168 would be Mayweather's 7th and 8th weight class! While 147 is only Marquez's fifth weight class. 147 for Marquez is what 154 is for Floyd. He's only slightly bigger than either of those guys.

And yes people did give Marquez a chance in that fight. Floyd was coming off a 2 year lay off to fight the p4p second best fighter in the world. People actually gave Marquez less of a chance against Pacquiao in their 3rd fight and we all saw how that went down. Marquez actually came in at 150 for Pac-Marquez 3. Stop trying to act like Floyd Mayweather is as big as Tommy Hearsn because he's not.

Marquez just beat the #1 fighter at the same weight Floyd beat him at, in a shut out. End of story.......

It wasn't Floyd's greatest win, but he should sure as hell get his due for it, given what Marquez has done his last two fights against Manny at WW.
