Should Floyd fight Sergio Martinez in September?

I think Martinez is going to fight Murray and Chavez Jr. in 2013. Floyd with Guerrero in May, Canelo in September. I hope they can work something out, but this is how I shaking out.True, but Floyd can fight him on May 4th, and Martinez in Sept (though it's highly unlikely). If not it's pretty much guaranteed Canelo would be on Floyd's under card regardless with a sold out arena. Martinez gained a ton of fans after he basically shut out "La Dinero De Vaca".Comment

Same can be said the other way around. This fight would be atrociously boring, the fans that want to see it are the ones that want Mayweather to suffer the same fate as Pacquiao, and there are many of them.Comment

You're doing exactly what Bringer said lol. You fear the outcome is all, don't worry it happens.Comment

No, it wouldn't.
And since when do Floyd fans give a **** about boring fights? Aren't you all the same crowd who refer to the Baldomir fight as a "masterclass"?

Yeah buddy. You clearly didn't read my edit. I said that Roy didn't 100% duck Bernard. At the time, that was one of the biggest fights to be made, and some casual fans, and mainly hardcore fans wanted to see that fight.
Unlike the Floyd/Manny fight, the majority of casual fans didn't really know who Bernard was. That's why I edited my post, and said that Roy didn't 100% duck. He didn't agree with the 50/50 split, which I completely understand coming from Roy, because unlike Manny/Floyd, most casuals had no idea who Bernard was.
You have to remember, Bernard Hopkins was P4P number 1 from 2002-2004. he was ranked ahead of Roy Jones in 2001 aswell. Interesting stuff, just like to see how Ring Magazine saw things, as well as many boxing analysts, experts, reporters, and journalists.
Interesting to see that throughout the entire period of 2000, I can only see maybe Lennox Lewis who was a heavyweight ranked on the P4P rankings. There may be one or two more, but I'm briefly looking over them.
Even Roy knew Bernard was no joke during that period. bernard basically begged for the fight, but because of the risk reward ratio, of course Roy didn't accept 50/50. Although I'm sure Bernard was willing to negotiate, and compromise. Roy didn't even want to sit down, and negotiate it.
That's what makes me think Roy was mainly responsible for the fight not happening. At the same time, I completely understand his stance on the 50/50 split. Bernard wasn't as known as him with the casual fans, so I get that.
I'm just saying, Floyd Vs. Martinez can be just like Bernard/Jones, except Sergio wouldn't demand a 50/50 split, and he'd be willing to go down to 154.
There's no hold up, so why not make this happen?
IF Floyd were to take this fight at 154, I'd give him 110% credit, and would never question his heart/balls ever again. This fight would erase anything he's done in the past, whether it be ducking or manipulating the system.
In the end. This would be THE best fight to make in recent times. If Floyd wants one more fight, and then ride off into the sunset, this would be THE fight.
IF he accepts this fight, and somehow wins, I couldn't do anything, besides call him the best fighter p4p.Last edited by Scarcaztic; 12-12-2012, 10:03 PM.Comment
