Should Floyd fight Sergio Martinez in September?

Try watching his career, several of his move up fights, the opponent was bigger, with no catchweight requirement....I'm not a huge Mayweather fan, but this is the kind of bs hate that is pitifulComment

Even in the lower weights he fought guys far bigger (Corrales? Castillo?) but, to me, as long as you take on the best available opponents in your division, I'm fine with that.Comment

Martinez is ducking Ward.
That not true...Ward is on record (google it) saying he would go down to 160 to fight Martinez. Ward started his professional career at 160...Mayweather is not a career 154 (2 fights), you can now call Martinez a career midleweight.Well the difference here is that Martinez is willing to fight Mayweather at 154 where Floyd currently holds his WBA title and where Martinez had previously held a title (WBC) himself. Meanwhile, Ward isn't willing to go down in weight to fight Martinez nor is he willing to fight Martinez at a catchweight because 168 is his limit (it's probably true)--he mentioned this in a recent interview.
It more of a challenge to fight up than moving down to fight smaller guys.Last edited by Queen_Leia; 12-12-2012, 10:45 AM.Comment

Sampson Lewkowicz, adviser to former two division world champion Sergio Martinez (49-2-2, 28KOs), is not ruling out a potential fight with WBA/WBC super middleweight king Andre Ward (26-0, 14KOs) - if Ward moves down to 160-pounds. There is absolutely no chance of Martinez moving up in weight to fight Ward at 168, says Lewkowicz to BoxingScene.com.

It's definitely not a big money fight. Martinez would bring in more money than Guerrero at this point.Comment

http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...ory?id=6216573Originally Published: 03/16/2011tweeted last month that a move down to 160 pounds for a big-money fight "would be tough, but not impossible. But very tough!"
Originally Published: 09/19/2012I would love to fight Martinez but I don't think it is possible because of the weight. Martinez's people say that he is a small middleweight and they are right. They say that if I go down to 160 then a fight could happen but I don't think that is possible
Andre Ward and Sergio Martinez may be on opposite ends of the career spectrum, but both put on near virtuoso performances in their last fights. So it's natural for people to chatter about when they could step in the ring together...
