That fight tonight showed what every boxing fans already knows, Floyd's legs are shot. If a bigger and heavier guy like Trout was able to successfully pivoted out countless times against ropes, why couldn't the smaller and lighter Floyd have done the same against Cotto?

Its Cotto's decline. It was easy to see that Floyd could have danced and made the fight easier on his body. Trout did the smart thing by keeping his distance and clinching inside. I still couldnt see Trout giving Maywether a run for his money immediately. Styles and fights.

Nothing against Cotto but I think the last 2 Rounds of Mayweather vs Cotto was Mayweather showing Cotto "THIS IS HOW THE FIGHT COULD HAVE GONE IF I WANTED IT TO!" meaning that Mayweather could have easily stayed outside and just picked Cotto apart if he wanted to do so
        This.

          Me personally....

I don't think Cotto has that same Pitbull mentality that he had at 140 and that may have been the differ.......

That has seemed to be the case since the Margarito 1 fight....

no. the last 2 rounds of trout-cotto were a beat down as well. same with all cotto fights. he always fades and that's why when people say cotto would have beaten margarito easy if the fight wasn't stopped they are wrong.

Floyd would give Trout a tougher fight but the final result would be similar to the Cotto fight. What impressed me the most about Trout tonight is that he looked like he could have gone 15 rounds.
This too. Trout looked fresh as hell. Pair that with Cotto's tendency to gas and it spells problems.

And you think Floyd could pick Trout apart from the outside despite the height disadvantage? Dont underrate Trouts speed either.

I would favor Trout against Mayweather at 154. You can't discount his physical advantage, especially because he's also quite skilled.

Yes he is. Someone like Floyd - who I think most sane people would agree is obsessed with being undefeated - would never gamble letting a world-class fighter have his way with him, especially for 3-4 rounds (3 is probably more realistic, but he made at least four pretty damned competitive, and hardly ever was completely un-competitive). Cotto did good but then Floyd took over. Floyd may be masterful but no one can pitch a shutout every time against world-class opposition.

nah I disagree floyds legs aren't shot...I mean 29 year old floyd was getting pined on the ropes by oscar, it was just oscar didn't take his time when he had floyd on the ropes he shot his load and got tired
