Yes without a doubt the best SMW of all time (Until Ward retires/does more) and had some serious skills that will never be appreciated as much as they should. It would have been great to see him challenged more but he was that good in his era and nobody can take it away from him.

The guy beat who was put in front of him, never lost. Beat some prime fighters who now constitute a P4P ranking if you beat them (Kessler, Bika).

Better than you thought he was...........Calzaghe is the man, he would never lose.

Those slaps are deadly, glad that fight got stopped. They are so strong the wind from the missed slaps can hurt his opponent which is why the ref stopped it. How the ref survived taking one of those slaps to the back himself we will never know.

He had the skills to beat any one. His best wins are Hopkins, Kessler, Bika, Eubank, Reid, and Lacy. Lacy was Calzaghe's "Gatti" performance, where it was his greatest performance, but not really one of his bet wins. The only reason people mention Lacy is because the resume pretty much starts dwindling down after Bika.

If Calzaghe had fought Pavlik in 2008, he'd have beaten him handily. He'd have ****d Pavlik as bad as he did Lacy. It would have been a 120-108 win for Calzaghe and he could have beefed up his resume a lot better. Especially with all the fans thinking he was afraid of Pavlik, which he could have been or not. Calzaghe would have also beaten Glen Johnson, and most likely Chad Dawson[one of my favorite fighters] as well when the two were calling him out. Calzaghe could have added these three as wins. Because of what Froch went on to do in his career, a win over Froch when Froch was calling him out would have been yet another good win.

So I have Calzaghe beating Pavlik, Johnson, Dawson, and Froch...but he fought none of them. At least fighting 2 of these guys would have made his resume much, much better than it is now. It's really too bad for him and for boxing fans that he opted out to fight a shot Roy Jones.

              I agree with this.

Calzaghe didnt seek hard-fought glory, but thats not uncommon.

He never went out of his way to prove he was great. I think he could have (that 0 would have to go). Why should we?

And that happened to be mostly unranked bums.
