Wasn't one of my better predictions, that's for sure. Had a lot of confidence in him, but Mares proved himself last night.

Ive said it before, you can't really compare the greats of old and current fighters. Everything is different. The physicality of fighters, with greatly improved nutrition, training techniques, and all that is a factor. That's why I hate comparing current to past in any sport. Not to mention the nostalgia factor is a huge reason people rate the greats so high. How would they do in this era no one really knows, imo a lot of the great heavyweights would have a lot of trouble with wlad.

A Hall of famer is just a subjective credential, not a factual achievement. Actors who played fighters got into the hall of fame and depending on who you ask, they will tell you that person should or should not be in the HOF.

Therefore I deem your point irrelevant.

He was also knocked out by Lamon Brewster, a pretty average fighter.

Nevermind his 30 something wins to only a few losses record coming into the fight. The mere fact that he Ko'd Wlad makes him above average because how many guys can say that they defeated Wlad? Isn't this how Joe Frazier made his case. After all what else did he achieve other then the one win vs Ali? You could then discredit Brewster's victory by saying that he didn't really beat Wlad because Wlad dominated until he ran out of steam or "was poisoned" or whatever. But then it would make your point moot now would it and cancel out that loss.

These are the types of threads that make people crap on Wlad. Can't he just be great in his own era? why **** on other fighters from other different eras of boxing.
No, these are not the type of threads that make people crap on Wlad. There is a status-quo sentiment that all of collectively are just supposed to accept the fact that past ATG's are better than Wlad based on some nostalgia for the past. Not gonna happen as some of us are contrarian and have a case to make.

Some of the same reasons Wlad is discredited (struggling against bad opposition or dominating bad opposition) can be made for ATG's of the past, who plowed through bad opposition.

Such as that chubby guy that OP posted about.

Totally agree different eras and time periods produced the fighters they were. Too many variables because if some of these greats were born later they would be different people, maybe different fighters with different attributes or may have chosen to be in another sport all together.

That's pretty much what I wanted to say but didn't want to waste so many words on these guys who never listen to anyone. People like that tend to cherry pick history.

It's also kind relevant now since Wlad will soon be behind only Joe Lewis as longest reigning HW champ, and this comes at a time Wlad has become the longest reigning HW champ without being knock down. Galento would not have knocked down Wlad.

At least we know who Tony Galento is. I guarantee no one could identify the man in this photo, Yet he knocked Wlad into a 180 degree spin.

Food for thought. There is this inferior looking Tennis player from the black and white era of the past, who amassed a lot of titles in his time, playing tennis in white pants and a sweater vest.

Now is anyone gonna tell me that he is better than Novak Djokovic, Nadal, yet alone Roger Federer? I don't think so. Some things are just clear as day by using deductive logic and observational skills, rather then stats and who beat who on what day.

Give Federer one of those old wooden racquets and he's look like **** too compared to todays players.

Saying Joe Louis knocking out Wladimir Klitschko is like saying George Mikan can outrebound Dwight Howard.
