This sounds like a good test for both fighters. This will show Rigondeaux's skills and how he might fare with Donaire. He better be ready. This Thai guy is out to take him out and if he succeeds it's bye-bye Donaire fight for Rigondeaux.

Im quite pleased with this announcement! Before Donaire fought Nishioka, I considered Poonsawat a third choice behind Nonito and Toshioki. For obvious reasons, I now prefer him to Nishioka. This is a great step for Rigo. Poon will give him a terrific fight en route to a date with Donaire. I have to agree with those that see the coming fights as preparation for that showdown. The anticipation makes this current match-up even more interesting.

If this fight goes through, and Rigo wins, we can put to rest the whole notion that Guillermo "hasn't fought anyone"...at least as far as I'm concerned. I can understand if some people prefer another opponent for "El Chacal"; but, the fact is, Poonsawat is a high-ranked, quality opponent. Bring it on!

          Absolutely.

A good fight for Rigondeaux and one he needs.

I wouldn't even mind if Rigo takes on Agbeko afterwards, just as long as a Donaire showdown is actually in the cards. Guillermo can use the work, the scalp and the notoriety. Things could really be heating up!

I don't mind Agbeko either or Darchinyan aslong as the aren't coming off very poor performances.

Rigondeaux needs to just fight the best he can and keep doing it.

Poonsawat is a very good direction.

I also need to reemphasize HOW is important. Just keeping on wining against top fighters just for the sake of getting the W isn't enough. Boxing is mainly an entertainment business. HBO would will put up more money the more entertaining Rigo is, making the Donaire fight more likely. His performance against Cordoba was absolutely terrible. And throwing 20 punches per round against Rico Ramos was also pretty bad. Here Rigo has another chance against a top 10 guy. He better not waste it.
