A rebound? Agbeko's resume is still better than Rigo's, a win over Agbeko would do a lot more for Rigo's career than a win over Kratingdaenggym. I don't care if dude has been at 122 for 50 years and is 100-0, who has he beaten?Come on Light!, why should Rigo allow himself to be used as a rebound? Poonsawat has been @122 for 6 years and is WBA #3, there's no question that he deserves the fight more. Agbeko is trying to cut to the front of the line without having done anything at 122 to warrant the fight. He called Rigo out cuz he has nothing to lose and everything to gain.Comment

Rigo gains a lot more from an Agbeko win than a Poonsawat win. It's not as if only Agbeko is gaining something from a Rigo fight. In fact, I think Rigo gains just as much from an Agbeko win as Agbeko gains from a Rigo win. Agbeko would be Rigo's first name opponent. As far as who deserves it more, Agbeko has gone through a murder row against elite fighters and was a finalist in the Showtime tournament. Poonsawat has gone through a row of bums since he lost to Lee. While Agbekos fight were at 118, they were certainly better opponents than Poonsawat's.Come on Light!, why should Rigo allow himself to be used as a rebound? That being said, I'm okay with this fight, but I still would prefer Agbeko.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 10-31-2012, 06:54 PM.Comment

Hows Agbeko a better fight? The dude is coming off losses.Originally posted by Light_SpeedQuote:

I didn't throw his name around, he's a solid fighter but Rigo could have fought a better opponent, like Agbeko who called him out. I guess ducking only applies to fighters that Rigo calls out but not to Rigo himself.

The first Mares fight was controversial and losing to a proven elite fighter like Mares doesn't disqualify you from fighting Rigo. Matter of fact Argbeko's resume is still better than Rigo's. Unless you work for the WBA why would you care about their rankings?

I suppose you're absolutely fine with this fight for Rigondeaux, right?
But, Donaire fighting Nishioka isn't legit, right?
Even though before the fight was signed you claimed he was ducking him.
You're as bad as the "Donaire fans" you cry about with your clear bias.Comment

I sure did and Nishioka on fight night proved my point that it was a cherrypick. I threw 50M on him just for kicks and to spite Donaire.Originally posted by IronDanHamzaQuote:

Similar to how you did with Nishioka then?

It's not as simple as "who has he beaten?", it almost never is. That's the same reason why most don't want Rigo to fight Donaire, even-though he has a belt and deserves to be in consideration.
Agbeko is a BW, and he's lost 3 of his last 5. He's trying to use Rigo as a "rebound", a fight that would propel him to the top while not having to do anything to get there.
How does beating Darchinyan (3 years ago) and Perez (2 years ago, and he lost the first time) automatically make him a better/more worthy opponent? So because he lost to top BWs, it means he should get special treatment at SBW? Poonsawat has the longevity to be worthy opponent. Excluding Mares/Darchinyan, the same can't be said for any of Agbeko's previous opponents.Comment

I agree that Rigo gains more from fighting Agbeko but not because Agbeko is a better fighter than Poon. Only becuz Agbeko is better known among boxing fans. I actually thinks Poon beats Agbeko.
