Was Floyd Sr right when he called Roach the Joke Coach?

Floyd Sr always refers to him as "freddie the joke coach roach". For a while I thought he was half-joking but i realize now he was being deadly serious and must have spotted roach's limitations way back when.

Roach's training style has become pretty transparent and it's rooted in his own history as a fan and fighter. Very simply, he was a big fan of Duran so he tried to imitate his style of fighting, and now he trains his fighters to fight with a similar sort of style.

so was Floyd Sr right all along, is Roach really a joke coach who was given the illusion of looking good because of Pacquiao's natural ability, or is he actually a good, even elite-level trainer?

He's good, IMO. I'd rather go with Roach than Floyd Sr.

I think he's ruined khan. Theirs no excuse for khan to be fighting like a hopping jack rabbit, throwing 200 punches a round with his chin pointed to the ceiling. He's good at training a certain style of fighter, but can't adjust to certain styles of opposition. He needs to realize certain styles shouldn't be used for certain fighters.

      I voted average trainer.

Floyd Sr. is the joke coach. When Hatton got knocked out by Pacquiao, Sr. didn't even go to help him or stay to console his fighter. He just left the ring immediately and began taking pictures with fans. Roach may be overrated but he did help Khan bounce back after his first loss.

all of khan's flaws were there before he started work with roach.

do you really think khan is trained to rush in like that with his chin out?
or to throw bombs and set his feet when he's hurt?

khan's biggest flaw is his chin. it's sh#t

Roach may not be the best but he is among the best.

                RIP Manny Steward. Another great.

No Roach is pretty good at what he does, now his approach is not correct for every fighter and is fairly simple but he is still good at implementing that approach. His approach does suit some better than others though.
