A bit of a miss-match this one. I think Ward stops Kelly late on.

The problem with Pavlik's power is that it's cumulative, not one punch. I'd be surprised to see Pavlik touch Ward once, let alone enough to phase him.

But please, I don't want to hear anybody say what did Pavlik do to deserve this fight. What did Yusaf Mack do to deserve the Froch fight? What did Mehdi Bouadla do to deserve the Abraham fight? Pavlik has done 10x more than the guys all the Euro champs make 95% of their defenses against.

The standards top American boxers get held to on this site are insane. In the past 4 years, Ward has fought Chad Dawson, Carl Froch, Mikkel Kessler, Arthur Abraham, Sakio Bika, Allan Green, and Edison Miranda. And you guys cry about him facing Kelly Pavlik when there is literally no one else that he could choose that even holds a candle to Pavlik?

If Andre Dirrell wants to fight more than once every 3 years, maybe he'd be an option. If Lucian Bute wants to try not getting his face torn to pieces in 5 rounds by Ward's leftovers, maybe he'd be an option. But right now, Ward has cleared out a division, Pavlik is as good of a scrap that remains.

on paper it's Ward in a shut out but where is the fight going to be at? who's the ref?

when Ward fought Abraham the ref wouldn't let Ward fight on the inside. Abraham lacks basic boxing skills, he's just a huge puncher.

I think if the ref won't allow Ward to fight Pavlik on the inside and keeps the fight at mid range Pavlik may have a chance and if you add a couple of Pavlik bais refs who knows what happens.

on paper Ward wins 9 out of 10 times but who knows about the other factors.
Arum wouldn't be willing to give up his Chavez jr puppy chow unless he has something up his sleave.

Bad match-making from the Pavlik camp. He's going to get worked. He's just too one dimensional for someone like Ward.

What is Ward trying to prove by taking this fight? Defeating Paklik at this point won't do anything for him. It's not an interesting fight. Oh well, he has kids to feed and bills to pay. War Ward!

why is he fighting leftovers? because ward knows he can't handle the quickness Martinez. He'll probably wait till he's 47...

Not a good fight. It's a waste though. Pavlik should have went after Froch, Abraham, or Chavez. I hope Ward fights 3 times next year.
