I don't know why people are making such a big deal out of this. Maybe it is because I've seen studied Law I realise that most cases involving defamation end like this. It is difficult to verify someone's intent when making a statement so usually them saying ''It was my opinion, didn't mean for people to take it as fact'' is enough.

Floyd made a statements that came back and bit him in the butt period. Know way around it. PAC took him to court and beat him there. On the flip side.
