isn't it a demand though to say "I won't fight you at a catchweight. You'll have to come down at 168lbs. or no fight." and to also demand the fight be at Ward's hometown in front of ward's crowd rather than a neutral city?
also what i'm trying to point out was you were wrong to say that ward did not demand the fight be at 168 (aka dawson draining himself 7 pounds to make teh fight happen).
Like I said, which you're obviously ignoring, if Dawson didn't state he'd fight at 168 initially, he'd never be in the situation he put himself in. He was held to his word, Key, (his word).
Dawson draining himself is not the same as saying Ward drained him.
i'm not sure why ward is even regarded as #1 p4p boxer by some boxing pundits. this guy hasn't proven himself outside of the super middleweight division. i mean, isn't that the point of p4p titles? ward doesn't even meet the criteria to be mentioned in the p4p list cause he hasn't conquered more than one weight class.
I don't see how it's debatable to have Martinez over Ward, as much as I like Sergio I can't see it. Both have fought extremely tough opposition, the difference is Ward has dominated all of them while that hasn't entirely been the case with Sergio. I would also say it's easy to have Ward at number 1, take his performances, dominance and opposition into consideration, regardless of how effected Dawson was by going down, that to me was still enough to put Ward at number 1 on my list.
So you look at an entire career/resume to build your current pfp list?? What does what Floyd did at 130-135 have to do with pfp 2012 considering Ward has clearly beaten better fighters in the last 2 years & Floyd is showing age & has been very careful with his choice of opponent??
Too many people judge only by accomplishments/resume, and that's why you have so many veterans in the top 10. People still tout the "8-division champion" argument and use that to justify Pac being at the top. In terms of styles and skill-set, Ward would pose a threat to everyone in the top 10. I don't even like putting Floyd/Pac in my P4P because they've seemed to become place-holders at this point.

Here posts a man that has no clue of what he speaks. Would you like to be educated on the term pfp good sir??

Exactly. I have no doubt in my mind that if Ward & Pacman were the same size, Ward would embarrass Pacman.
I don't like that either. There was a time when pfp change at least once a year. Now Floyd & Pacman can hold spots, the highest spots by just fighting.
well believe what you want to believe...dawson and his team did offer a 170lb catchweight, which, according to dawson himself, would have been better for him (health wise) than going down to 168.. but ward and his team said no and demanded the fight stay at 168. dawson is at fault for accepting that demand but ward is also at fault for not being open to accepting dawson's offer of a cw, which would have been healthier for dawson.
So, if I owned an acura nsx & was rolling down the street sporting my whip & someone came up to me & offered 50 g's & then a couple days later lowered their offer, I'd be at fault for not accepting the lower offer??
How did Pacquiao beg? Last I recall Dawson asked Ward for a catchweight during negotiations no? At least at 170 Ward would've gotten a little more credit. And how you figured he doesn't get much credit? Ring elevated him over Martinez and some people here have him #1 over Floyd.

Pacquiao says "this weight or no fight".
Floyd and Pac can use their economic muscle to drain guys. So, yes. They can "force" someone.

Whether one chooses to move up or conquer a division, opposition will always be in question. So the bold holds absolutely no importance AT ALL. Currently, Ward has had one of the toughest line ups, has been dominant against them and has displayed a wide arsenal of skills, that to me is enough.
the fighters that ive seen that have been really affected by weigh loss is de la hoya n erik morales vs pacquiao for both guys, dawson seem affected by the weight loss of course but i dont think it is as bad as they make it seem, if dawson would of won they would of been completely different about it, they would of said some like "we knew we could make 168 easy n we knew team ward would underestimated us"
