Serious question. How is Martinez/Floyd the same as Martinez/Ward?

I was with you on this until the Cotto fight, Floyd's a two time 154 champion now. He's considered the best fighter at the weight. If Martinez is willing to move down, then make it happen.

It should not be "He's too small for Martinez," at the same time that people want him to fight Saul Alvarez.
Its not just Floyd's size. I really don't think its wise for Martinez to move down to 154 or up to 168 for that matter. Second, Cotto is a small LMW. As for Alvarez, I don't know how much he weighs on fight night.

I guess IF Martinez can make it to 154 healthily I wouldn't object too much, but that's a big IF.

So what's the difference between him being smaller against Oscar, Cotto & maybe ginger as opposed to being smaller against Martinez?? Outside of Martinez being better than all 3??
I can flip this on you easily though. If you're talking just being bigger and being a certain size, is Chavez Jr not bigger or as big as Andre Ward???

All I'm saying is people seem to be dreaming that Sergio can make 154 healthy. If he can make the weight so easily, go and fight the Lara-Vanes winner, because Lara has said time and time again that he'd fight Sergio at 154 or 160, it doesn't matter. If he goes down to 154 and whups someone like that, than yeah I'll say he makes the weight healthy. But he's about to be 38 and hasn't fought there in 4 years. Floyd is not a big WW and I didn't see anyone saying in 2009 that he could easily go down a weight class back to 140 and fight. Sergio isn't a big MW, but a solid one, who's a SMW on fight night. I don't see him after 4 years of being at MW, being able to get down to 154 and retain his abilities completely.

You didn't flip anything, you're just reaching. Isn't it a fact that Chavez is a big middleweight & Ward a super middleweight??

Well than isn't it a fact that Cotto is a solid but not big SWW, while Martinez is a MW???

Actually floyd has never weighed at 154, only 150 and 151, so technically martinez fighting ward at a catchweight of 164 would be fair and actually similar. No matter if floyd has fought in the junior middleweight division, he is clearly small for it just as martinez would be small for 168.

Here's a decent comparison in terms of weight. Floyd at 147 is like Sergio at 160. Both aren't big at that weight, but they are solid fighters there in size.

In 2009, Floyd was 32 and hadn't been to 140 in 4 years. In 2013, Sergio will be 38 and hasn't been to 154 in 4 years.

Does anyone think Floyd in 2009 was going down to 140, even though he may be on the smaller side at 147??? Obviously not. People just like to think Sergio can weight jump from 158/159 back down to 154, where he hasn't fought in 4 years, because they want to see Floyd get beaten up by a much bigger fighter. If Sergio can make 154 healthy and no problem, go down there and give up your MW titles, and fight Top SWW's. Until I see him go down to 154 and beat a top fighter there again, I can't say he'll make that weight fine anymore.

So he should fight Lara or Vanes while Floyd fights ginger?? You'd like that won't ya. The winner of Lara/Vanes fighting 1 of the best fighters in the world & Floyd fights ginger. Shame on you. But Floyd would beat Martinez right??

Is it a fact Martinez would be drained Larry?? Or is that simply your assumption.

Lets keep it real. Do you believe that ginger or Martinez is next for Floyd?? If so which 1 would you prefer & why??
