I disagree with Mtz' adviser since Chavez Jr gave up many rounds without being active (in round one he only threw one punch). Being a low starter, I would expect Jr to be very cautious for 2 or 3 rounds. Rather than forcing fighting closer to Sergio and cutting the ring compeling him against the ropes to punish the body, JCCJ was counting on Mtz. losing stamina (due to mobility and age) so it would become easier target during the last rounds. Only in the last 2 rounds, Jr showed some sort of urgency to throw consistently and I think that it explains partially what happened on the 12th round. Jr only connected few successful punches to Sergio's torso despite being a heavy body puncher partly because Jr. is slow but also to the fact that he was not using his bigger physique to trap Sergio against the ropes and cause him getting exhaustion by avoiding him. Roach's plan wasn't clear enough. What could be remarkable was that Chavez never felt discouraged to continue waiting for his moment which came to the very end. What could make a legendary fight was the fact that despite domination Sergio ended in a brink of losing by KO (and Jr almost emulated his father who turned defeat to victory with only seconds left vs. Meldrick Taylor). Maybe Chavez Jr could learn something from this fight but certainly people will continue talking about him as many still do about his father. Being in the spotlight is a condition to be part of a legend.

the only legend status the chavez is will be the tomato can king. what happend last night was coming.a terrible trainer with a fighter that has janitors and car salesmen on his resume is a disaster waiting to happen when he finally gets in there with somebody that can fight. whats been saving jr is his size.hoepfully lessons learn.

Martinez wins again in a rematch with no final round drama next time. That was simply a result of him just trying to make good on pre-fight bravado. I wanna see Sergio/Floyd.

They will go for the rematch cause they know it would be easy $$$$$$ & a easy win for Matinez..If that knock down would have happened in the middle rounds, NO ONE would be talking about a rematch..Pavlik did 10 times better against Martinez & even scored a K.D. in the earlier in the fight, yet after the fight NO ONE was pushing for a rematch..

To grace this spoonfed diva a rematch would go against every single thing Sergio hated about him in the first place. He's won his beloved trinket back, now move down to 154 and take the fights that really matter.
