you know what is crazy, if ward beat dawson at 175 instead and actually was able to drain to 160 and beat martinez, he would hold 3 lineal championships in 3 weight classes at the same time. That would have been pretty bad ass.

Nearly as good as Armstrong who simultaneously held 3 linear titles. Difference being that his was 3 of the original 8.

Since it was team Dawson that called out Ward at 168.

Really, how many times is this going to have to be explained?

Ward has said that he won't go below 168.

Call him a ***** or whatever, but it's the weight he is most comfortable with at this time.

I don't see the fight coming off, and see a JCC jr fight much more realistic, since Jr. is a pretty big 160.

I wouldn't be fair for Martinez to have to go up to 68, and it wouldn't be fair for Ward to have to drop to 60.

        End of.
From 160-168, Ward vs Martinez is the best fight that could happen, P4P. From 154-160, it's Mayweather-Martinez, again talking top 10 P4P, even from 147-154, the best match it's still Mayweather-Martinez. This makes Sergio Martinez arguably the fighter to fight right now. Ward has nobody at 168-CW to fight who is a top 10 P4P fighter, or even such a good fighter that he'd be given a lot of props for the win, other than Andre Dirrell. Giving up 4lbs, and Martinez coming up 4lbs, at 164, is the best those two could do.

Though I agree that the fight is almost impossible to make. Martinez doesn't even want a catchweight, and Ward doesn't even want to move down from 168. Realistically speaking, it's a fight that can actually be done, and a weight could be agreed on, and it could happen. It's not a matchup like Mayweather vs Donaire, or Froch vs Wlad or something. They're merely one weight class away.

Ward mentioned he would like to fight the winner of Jr and Sergio but he can't go below 168. He said because of this Jr is more of a realistic fight because Sergio maybe too small. Sergio said he won't go past 160. In conclusion, this fight won't happen; end of thread.

Yeah, it seems like today nobody is focused on beating records or setting a legacy. People *****ed saying ward-dawson should have been at 175 and it was unfair to dawson... but that is part of the deal. Dawson took a bigger risk and came up short but the reward was bigger, he would have been able to claim two lineal titles. Its not like a catchweight where there is no reward for the risk.

True. Had Dawson won he would have been a HOF'er already. Personally I'm not into all this weightjumping. I'm old-school on that. I prefer fighters staying in a division for longer periods.

Why are Team Martinez talking so much BS about his size? They guy is 175lbs 30 days out of a fight, yet he's a blown up 154 pounder? Get the **** outta here!

Forget the weight, look at the tale of the tape, Martinez is a tiny middelweight.

                    **** Catchweights

Most of these catchweight fights have been BS, the networks need to stop airing them. The bigger guys need to stop killing themselves to make weight. It just gives us less of a fight.
