its not about quitting its about preserving his career. why take 3 more rounds of beatdown when your being dominated. not like he quit right away. he fought for 10 rounds after being dropped twice and knowing you have no legs. im just saying, pushing through pain and not quitting is one thing. when your drained, its like you see the opening and know what to throw but your body just doesnt respond. its impossible to imagine unless youve felt it. as for your job, i would be much more fearful of doing what you do then stepping in the ring. the ring is a controlled environment, prison is another world lol. but at the end of the day, chads getting punched in the face for no reason. call it a day and come back to fight another day. imo scully should have stopped it when chad went down the last time, rather than making chad say it.

and im a fighter who prides myself on never being down on the canvas. been down twice in sparring due to body shots, after which 2 weeks of hard core training put an end to that. never been stopped, never down in competition, never been hurt honestly, but i still understand chad's position.

Yeah, American's are so in love with white-ish boxers. It's why Pacman, Mayweather and Cotto are drawing PPV's and DLH and Tyson were popular too. ****ing white ass boxers right there.

Dawson knew he was beat from around R3 when Ward had effectively neutralised him and KD'd him twice. I think mentally he was gone from then on.

If he wanted out then that's his prerogative, you have to respect the guy from dropping down in weight and going to Ward's hometown.

I think it's because some people said Dawson was "soft" while a lot of people strongly disagreed with that notion.

The fact that he quit proves a lot of people wrong and threads like this are more or less a "I told you so" thread.

Do you realize how ****** you sound? Ortiz quitting is bad because he was still in the fight? Do you realize that he had a broken jaw and he new it as well? What injuries did Dawson have from preventing him from fighting on? a broken sack?

Im still here aint I??? I dont wanna die, im not a quitter. I didnt quit when things in my life became unbearably hard, and I NEVER will. I stayed the course though the darkest time in my life and came out stronger than ever.
I agree with most of your posts. You made some very good points. It's still hard to know just how much Chad was suffering though. You can't compare what you or I do with what someone else do or went through.

                  I'm currently on the Uni Track Squad-Long Distance/ 1 Mile Run-Re Lays.
During a 9 mile speed run once, one of my friends dropped out at the beginning of the 9th mile. I was like 'holy ****, one more mile to go this guy got zero balls and zero heart. I was dead tired too and feeling like my heart was going to burst, I was in fifth and way behind 1st so I had no chance, but I still finished.

It wasn't until later that I found out my friend was already on his last legs DURING THE 5TH mile of a 9 mile run that day. So what I was feeling, all the pain and hurt during that last mile, my friend was already feeling during the MIDDLE of the race. The fact that he lasted as long as he did was shocking in itself.

People say Chad should have finished on his feet, a true warrior would have last 12. Etc etc etc. I somewhat agree. I think Chad was done by the 2ND ROUND. Yet he still managed to take it way late into the fight.

If Chad was honestly done by the 2nd round (and I believe he was) lasting as long as he did is actually quite impressive and shows an amazing amount of heart.

This is why I never talk bad about Vitali quitting against Chris Byrd. People say 'oh wow, only a few more rounds to go' Vitali is a quitter. Maybe Vitali was done by the 5th round, the fact that Vitali still managed to grind it out late into the fight is admirable. We just don't know.

Now I'm also willing to admit maybe Chad and Vitali both simply quit because they were quitters for that night of their career. That is also a possibility, but I give both the benefit of the doubt and think they were already in a lot of pain way before the round they gave up in.

Again half these guys saying they'd fight on I doubt they've ever even been in a fight with anyone worth talking about.

As for the guy who said he'd take both Ward and Dawson on for Dawsons pay cheque I think you really should start prizefighting.

Chad Dawson simply had no options, he couldn't get on his bike because his tank was empty he couldn't tie Ward up because Ward is a beast on the inside.
Never seen anyone claim this but i wouldn't be surprised.

Malignaggi would KO 95% of the posters on this forum.

Just because he can't KO most professionally trained fellow Boxers...dont be fooled into thinking you(aimed at those who said **** like that), a nobody who's last fight was probably in high school could mix it with him just because he hasn't the power to KO his fellow Boxers...he'd KO these internet warriors easy enough.
