I usually hate quitting, but what Dawson did was a good business decision. I don't think he quit because he didnt have the heart. I think he quit because he knew he didn't belong "there"," as in fighting at 168. He realized, accepted it, & is moving on. As for his next move, he should fight both Cloud & Pascal
So what should Dawson do now?

I was referring to when he got up from the final KD.
I usually don't make a bit thing of these No Mas-es fighters pull,it happens.
But this was a bad one.Comment

I agree. I'm surprised people are justifying it. It was massively disappointing. Maybe seeing Ajose fight his ass off spoiled us.
But I expected more from Chad.
Remember how he fought back when Glen had him hurt in their fight? That Dawson has gone. Tonight was closure on that.Comment

Scully was telling Dawson to watch for the right-hand not the left-hook, dumb advice. Ward's hands were always up, so Dawson couldn't counter. I think Dawson needs a new trainer, Scully is just not right for him. He needs to go back to Stewart or Floyd Sr. A trainer that will tell Dawson the right things.Chad has had that stance for a long time...Emmanuel Steward complained about it plenty....
Chad was fighting a good fight until he got clipped in the third...the fourth round just confirmed to him that if he went in there trying to do the gameplan(how he fought in the first 2 and a half rounds), he was gonna get clipped bad again with a left hook(especially if he was still feeling the punch)...so he just gave Ward the initiative and tried to avoid the dangerous shots......thats why he changed to his "whitakerish style"....to feel comfortable and try to avoid the big big shots...and set up a trap here and there, but Wards footwork and defense were to good and Chad gave up on that too...
Clearly Scully overlooked the whole left hook thing....but maybe its one of them things.....fighters always find certain things difficult......that hook was just too much for Chad....Comment

Dawson should take it easy, recover and work his way back slowly. Even as a light heavy he is still recovering from a stoppage loss. If I was his manager I would give him some time off. Work him back into gym work gradually and then get him an easy fight or two. Who cares about titles when the man's career could be stake if handled improperly.Comment

Problem with him taking this fight and the way he lost was it lowered his stock. Going back and winning at 175 would be good but he probably will never be big because of this fight. I think the weight definitely played a roll in his loss,
Dawson took solid shots from Adamek, Pascal, Johnson, and Tarver, but he couldn’t deal with Wards power? A guy who couldn’t stop Allan Green. Not taking anything from Ward.
But these days everyone wants to win belts in multiple classes when they should just focus on winning and fighting the best where they are comfortable at.Comment

Well Dawson did look off, and the weight had a lot do with it. He had no foot movement, very little snap and speed in his punches, his defense was awful and getting hit by everything Ward threw. He didn't know how to defend the left-hook as Dawson was expecting the right hand.Comment

this has to be a jokeWhile your other points after the above were good, this deserves some attention.
How is it a smart move to blatantly quit, considering the Twitter/facebook/internet age we're living in and the bad reputation that goes viral on blogs and forum's after a No-mas like that? This can destroy careers. And it's not like Bad Chas was that exciting or interesting to begin with.
Secondly, the beating he was taking was from a 13ko puncher who hasn't knocked someone out in years. Not some mule punching beast who gives fighters brain damage. And it was what the 10th round? The fight almost over. Having a KO loss on your record against a perceived pillow puncher who couldn't even KO Henry Buchanon, doesn't look good.Comment
