hehe good one. Dawson will bounce back, hopefully him and Scully would go back to the drawing board. Dawson looked drained, no footspeed, his punches weren't sharp, he was loading his punches everything just looked off. Ward did his homework, whatever Dawson prepared for it didn't work, the trainer does deserve some blame for that.
So what should Dawson do now?

He should go back to his weight division and defend couple of times and wait to give the belt to Ward when Ward moves up.As a Dawson fan, I'm not that disappointed, I kind of expected this. Dawson will bounce back. Some fans will say he needs a new trainer? Dawson at his best when he was with Floyd Sr, but those bridges are burned. Maybe he should switch to Stewart, he will teach Dawson how to use his height and reach better.
Dawson didn't look fast at all, he wasn't moving as much, and he was right in front of Ward all the time. Keep in my I'm not making excuses for Dawson, Ward probably would have beaten Dawson at 175. But Dawson's skill go up and down everytime he switches trainers. As much as I like to blame the trainers, it's all on Dawson.Comment

Please explain the boldTime for Dawson to hang up the gloves, He was utterly outclassed by Ward and he was given a gift against Hopkins, Not to mention he has lost in the past, His greatest wins were over a 50 year old Tarver who was way, way, way past prime.
I fear that Dawson might end up like Gerald McClellan if he continues to take the kind of abuse that he took tonight at the hands of Ward.Comment

He''ll bounce back.In the Light heavy division he can manage on talent alone.hehe good one. Dawson will bounce back, hopefully him and Scully would go back to the drawing board. I do think the weight did affect to some degree but the rest was all cause and effect.
It will be interesting to see though, once you quit once it's easier to do it again and again. That wa shocking to me not the fight itself.Comment

Dawson quitting was a smart move, because he knew there was no way he was going to win the fight, and he was getting hit by everything Ward threw. He was getting a beating. His defense (and offense) looked worse, which is why I question the trainer, even when Dawson fought Hopkins I question Scully. I just don't know what Scully is teaching Dawson making him fight in some weird shoulder-roll stance. Dawson was constantly getting hit by the left hook, he didn't have his hands up.He''ll bounce back.In the Light heavy division he can manage on talent alone.

Not to mention it was only recently he fought against Hopkins, didn't have a lot of time to rest from a 12round bout, with two cuts in his eyes, and he had to sacrifice a lot just to make the fight.Last edited by Boxingwizard; 09-08-2012, 11:28 PM.Comment

While your other points after the above were good, this deserves some attention.
How is it a smart move to blatantly quit, considering the Twitter/facebook/internet age we're living in and the bad reputation that goes viral on blogs and forum's after a No-mas like that? This can destroy careers. And it's not like Bad Chas was that exciting or interesting to begin with.
Secondly, the beating he was taking was from a 13ko puncher who hasn't knocked someone out in years. Not some mule punching beast who gives fighters brain damage. And it was what the 10th round? The fight almost over. Having a KO loss on your record against a perceived pillow puncher who couldn't even KO Henry Buchanon, doesn't look good.Comment

I disagree,I thought it was a terrible move to quit. You can never know when the fighter decides when he's touching the ''I can't win'' line. Some reach it sooner than others and it gets easier to reach it after a while.
I never thought much of Dawson's defence even before. He was overrated in my opinion.Comment

Now, Victor ORtiz may say that quitting before it got worse was a "smart move". After all, he is kind of like the Anna Kournikova of the Boxing world. He can always fall back on modeling, assuming he protects that pretty face of his.
Chad Dawson? Not so much. And it doesn't help that he has got Jaw like crooked teeth either. Just sayin'.Comment
