not only that but remember that RJ is basically going 2 rounds in every single fight. Now imagine having to hold Floyd off for 12 championship style rounds. Even if RJ jumps out early, for him to have the ability and mental fortitude to go 12 full rounds iwth Floyd would be hard as hell.

You cant expect him to be dominating Floyd from rounds 8-12. Thats not going to happen at these stages of there careers. He's been fighting guys out the ymca and now he's going to kill Floyd in the championship rounds?

He's fighting all 2 round fights against bums and now has to fight the best guy in the sport while being worn down mentally over the course of 12 rounds. No way Floyd doesnt start figuring him out, getting to him, and wearing him down

winning can be accomplshed in different ways. floyd may not be able to ko roy nor would floyd's individual shots hurt roy. but fights are often won by the guy with less power, better defense, and a better ring IQ. floyd who fought ODH, not this floyd at 154 that fought cotto, has a much better chance obviously.

On paper, roy has every advantage except ring IQ and defense. the difference in ring IQ is as wide as the gap in athletecism. but roy in 91 was still 2 years away from bhop. I just don't think he was good enough to beat floyd (that fought ODH) that early in his career.

But i think he would beat current floyd because he'd be too fast and athletic for the floyd that just beat cotto.

so what? he had already kicked leonards ass in sparring by that point and beat up many other greats, about a year after he was at 154 he beat bernard hopkins.

Floyd Mayweather Jr fights currently at 147 and 154.

Roy Jones 17-0 Vs Floyd Mayweather 43-0.

Now nevermind the experience as that's just to outline there careers around 154.

            Who wins?
That's really not an inteligent arguement. You say Roy fought his first 17 fights at or slightly above 154, and then you proceed to try to compare Roy 17-0 vs Floyd 43-0 when Floyd has only fought twice at 154, which niether time did he come in at 154.

Roy destroys Floyd, schools him before a brutal KO in 7.

Floyd tries to run but it is no use, Roy hunts him down catching him with lead left hook.

Floyd bravely gets up but sickening body blows followed by a left uppercut and the right hook puts Floyd down face first into the canvas, his bloody face a sad and sorry mess.

Ref doesn't even begin the count, he waves it off, calling the doctor into the ring for urgent medical attention.

now we are going on sparring stories? I guess Spaddy & Peterson are better than Floyd now. Plus SRL was done at the point.

Then you talk about Hopkins as if Hopkins was the ATG at then. Thats like Margarito bragging on knocking out Martinez. He wasnt that guy at that point and Hopkins still gave RJ a tough fight.

Again, Im a huge RJ fan. He was obviously a big time fighter from day 1. No one is dis*****g that. Its not like we are saying RJ vs a nobody. We are talking about another ATG who is still a very good fighter, has fought many big fights, and is so far superior from a mental and fight experince stand point. I mean RJ was still fighting at the fairgrounds in his last fight at 154. Thats a big jump to go to Floyd even with his obvious advantages

Odh at 154 is so far removed from the type of fighter he would be facing in a 154lb roy, and not too mention, the Hopkins fight was a couple removed from 154, and Toney was one fight removed from 160. In 24 months Roy went from fighting at 154, bhop at 160, and Toney at 168... Its safe to say his skillset was pretty damn similar.
Roy is remarkable in that he was probably just as good the day her turned pro as they day he beat Hopkins. Being so dependent on athleticism, he didn't really grow as much as more technique oriented fighters.

Roy was fighting at the fairgrounds because he father shunned the publicity early on in his career, remember that. Roy could have been headling cards from day one, but they chose to go underground.

Roy by any means but I'd favor a Stoppage in the mid rounds!
