Joe Calzaghe has been unlucky he really has, apart from RJJ and Hopkins who Frank Warren tried to get fights with for years, who else could Joe fight?....what Ottke and Beyer ?, oh yeah they are awesome!. Joe missed out on the era of Benn,Eubank and Collins when they were in their prime.

Now Joe has his career defining fight, and hopefully he'll slap Lacy all over the ring.

Exactly, the only challenges for Calzaghe would of been Jones or Hopkins. And neither of them would fight him, for obvious reasons.

Probably because Roy didn't like to fight outside the states the same way Calzaghe seems to only fight within his home country. Roy was the champ at the time if I remember correctly, so why go over to a country where the judges will be biased against you and risk your title if the fights goes all the way?

As for Hopkins? He most likely ducked Calzaghe... meh, never liked Hopkins all that much.
Roy fights at 175. How can Roy duck somebody who isn't even in his weight class who has never moved up.

Yes, the reason was obvious. He was a nothing fight because he'd never done anything to prove himself by beating anyone whorth while.

When are you going to get that trough your head?

He didn't take care of challenges in his own division nevermind calling out pound for pound elite.

            You're delusional.

yea, look at his record. look what he's done.remember what youve read from press reports.

the guys beautifull against euro lackeys and older u.s.boys but against a real contender??? dont think so.

i don't think a hometown ref will be called into play because lacy will tko him in later rounds...imo

The problem is that Calzaghe has never made a serious offer to either of them. He has only made an offer to Ottke after he could see that Ottke's legs where gone. And that was a ridiculous low one. Ottke could make way more than that beating a bum at home.

And i don't think someone like Hopkins ducked him since he had big name fighters comming from lower divisions to fight him.

I think the point is that Calzaghe has not made himself attractive enough for Hopkins or RJJ to want to fight him.

Well Hopkins was offered $3million from Frank Warren's pocket to fight Calzaghe on Showtime for Joe's super-middleweight title in Cardiff, he agreed and the fight was on. This was just after the Byron Mitchell fight. Just before press release for the Calzaghe-Hopkins fight, Bernard backed out and demanded $6million instead. So, Hopkins bottled it.

no they arent genuine. he makes up these bull**** broken hand excuses, just so he can take a few more months off all the while, avoid a fighter with a heartbeat, namely jeff lacy.

he says his hand his broken then takes a picture of himself with a bandage (not plaster) on his hand to make it look good.

cal***gy's a coward, theres no denying that.

roy jones wud have embarassed calzaghe.....wud have been a joke

calzaghe neva fought an elite class figher (eubank was way passed his best when calzaghe beat him). Robin Reid was prob best fighter calzaghe fought and that he just about won.....(and dint win in my opinion)
