Probably, seeing as Eubank was a natural light-heavyweight and Gans was a lightweight.
haha fair enough, even though you knew what i ment
but, ive had enough with dealing with people whos bias is set in stone, and theres nothing anyone can do to change that
its all good
peace
Are JCs injury excuses genuine or not in your opinion ?
I know the Yanks are highly critical & believe they are BS for some reason , but why would he pull out of a glen Johnson fight with a back injury & a Lacy fight a broken hand WHY ? Theres no point being in boxing with the sort of hand speed JC has & that sort of talent if your going to pullout of big fights by faking injuries,
Im no JC fan at all, but i think its silly to suggest he has faked injuries.
fck you scared the hell out of me.when i first seen this thread
i thought sheeee it calzaghes doing it again.
don't know if he's crying wolf. but taking on his last fight instead of thinking about lacy sort of pissed me off.
don't think the hometown advantage will be called on in this fight.lacy tko's him late.
If Calzaghe beats Lacy he garners a lot of respect he hasn't had from American fans for a long time. Then, and ONLY then, should he move to the States and start taking in more of the bigger names. Face it. The sad truth is, if you don't have the support of American boxing fans you're nothing. You can be the greatest talent in the world in Britain for 20 years straight, but if you're not knocking people out on HBO or SHO PPV's then you most likely won't be remembered in the record books. Case in point: Hatton signing with HBO. He knows that if he doesn't come over to America then he'll never be as big as he can get.
Now... if Lacy beats Calzaghe... then Calzaghe is pretty much dead on the American front. No ifs, ands or buts about is because it will cement him as a guy who fought in his home country all his life and when he finally fought a big name American fighter he got put in his place. THAT, is how 99% of boxing fans will see if it he loses. Sad, but true.
He's 40-0, and he's the longest-reigning world champion in the whole of boxing. He's held the WBO super-middleweight title for eight years now, and during that time he has beaten former WBC super-middleweight champion and Olympic medalist Robin Reid, former WBC super-middleweight champion and Olympic medalist Richie Woodhall, former IBF super-middleweight champion American Charles Brewer and former WBA super-middleweight champion American Byron Mitchell. He hasn't lost since 1990, he won three ABA titles at three different weights. He's accomplished a lot so far, and wins next year against Tarver and Lacy before retiring would throw him into the HOF and make him a true legend.
Joe has been by far the best in his division since Roy Jones Jr. WBA and IBF champion Sven Ottke barely sc****d past Byron Mitchell in a boring, very close fight. Calzaghe then wiped out Mitchell in much more impressive fashion, Mitchell said "I've never been hit so hard so often", and said that he'd be putting his money on Calzaghe if he met Ottke. WBC champion Marcus Beyer lost five times to Mario Veit (who Joe wiped out in one round, and beat in six in his backyard), and Beyer got a gift decision against Richie Woodhall (who Joe wiped out in much more impressive fashion). Woodhall said that Beyer doesn't deserve to share the same ring as Joe. So what more can Joe do?? Roy Jones Jr was too scared to fight him, Bernard Hopkins was too scared to fight him. Calzaghe has beaten every guy who has been put in front of him, every last one of them who has had the guts to share a ring with him. He's actually beaten every man he's ever fought, amateur or pro. Give him his dues.
The problem with this list is that it is all former champions. Had he made a serious attempt to unify the titles things would have been completely different. Just take Hopkins career for example. But he never made that attempt which is a shame because
he could have beaten Ottke and Beyer even in Germany. Instead he has seemed content with defending the WBO belt against often poor opposition. He is so talented that it is frustrating to see him piss it away against has beens and never beens. I think he is one of the few people who could have given a prime Roy Jones a really tough fight.
I am glad that he perhaps finally has realized that people want to see him step it up or perhaps want to himself and start to face another champion. If he still has it then i think he going KO Lacy but it is difficult to say since he hasn't lately fought anybody noteworthy.
I like Calzaghe, i think he's got a lot of talent and I hope he beats Lacy but if he does he should be thankful to Lacy for having the balls to come over to england and fight, because Joe was certainly not gonna go over to America. Even Calzaghe admits his career has not taken off or been successful in the way he would have hoped and he needs a career defining fight, yet when the chance came up to fight Lacy he refused to go over to America. If he was confident in his ability and hungry for big fights then he would of gone over to America and pursued them like Hatton is doing now...but that said I still hope he wins.

Ottke and Beyer dodged Calzaghe and would have been destroyed by Calzaghe (as you also seem to think) had they had the balls to face him.
